  1. More from a can. Bush has several lines of beans that are different than the standard "baked bean". One is called "Grillin' Beans" ( http://www.bushbeans.com/en_US/products/grillin_beans/ ). I haven't tried them yet, but one of the line uses black beans instead of the standard great northern bean.

The other line is http://www.bushbeans.com/en_US/products/cocina_latina/ and they use pinto and black beans. I saw both at the Kroger yesterday when buying lunch.

  3. For 103 years, the Boy Scouts of America has been a part of the fabric of this nation, providing it’s youth program of character development and values-based leadership training. In the past two weeks, Scouting has received an outpouring of feedback from the American public. It reinforces how deeply people care about Scouting and how passionate they are about the organization.

After careful consideration and extensive dialogue within the Scouting family, along with comments from those outside the organization, the volunteer officers of the Boy Scouts of America’s National Executive Board concluded that due to the complexity of this issue, the organization needs time for a more deliberate review of its membership policy.

To that end, the executive board directed its committees to further engage representatives of Scouting’s membership and listen to their perspectives and concerns. This will assist the officers’ work on a resolution on membership standards. The approximately 1,400 voting members of the national council will take action on the resolution at the national meeting in May 2013.

  4. Snow....

The National Weather Service said Tuesday a foot and more of snow was reported in lower elevations of West Virginia, where most towns and roads are. High elevations in the mountains were getting more than two feet.

More than 128,000 customers in West Virginia were without power.

Authorities closed more than 45 miles of Interstate 68 on either side of the West Virginia-Maryland state line because of blizzard conditions and stuck cars.

  5. Another Arkansas Republican, Charlie Fuqua is running for state office. He wrote a book that is quite interesting (a small sample):

The maintenance of civil order in society rests on the foundation of family discipline. Therefore, a child who disrespects his parents must be permanently removed from society in a way that gives an example to all other children of the importance of respect for parents. The death penalty for rebellioius children is not something to be taken lightly. The guidelines for administering the death penalty to rebellious children are given in Deut 21:18-21: ......

...This passage does not give parents blanket authority to kill their children. They must follow the proper procedure in order to have the death penalty executed against their children....
