  1. Too bad he wasn't faster. I'd have bought a small latin american country, fled there and then changed the extradition laws before they could find me. You can buy entire countries through PayPal, right?
  2. Very awesome. Hopefully we'll end up with the first gay royal wedding in my lifetime. Although with my luck it'll end up being Charles...
  3. First of all, when your neighborhood has been victimized by several people of a certain race, seeing another member of that race in the middle of the night and assuming he's up to no good isn't "racial profiling", it's common sense. Second, regardless of what Zimmerman said or did to "provoke" Tryvon, it still ended with Zimmerman in the ground getting his face beat by a younger, stronger person. He was well within his right to fear for his life and defend himself. Just because you provoke soebody doesn't mean they suddenly have the right to beat you to death. Even if you attack them first. Which from what I've read about the trial I don't believe Zimmerman did. Zimmerman was legally allowed to carry his gun and to use it to defend himself. He did. He was charged with what was in my opinion BS charges in a trial that tried to be more about race that the supposed crime that was committed and he got off like he should have. Especially with that god awful case the prosecution had and the fact that the prosecutor falsified Zimmerman's arrest warrant, something she's under indictment for by the way. No matter which side of the story you believe, the case against Zimmerman was a total mess from day one. More about emotion and agendas than facts.
  4. Nah, 7's good too. Of course, good for me means "doesn't screw up my games" so it might suck in other ways I'd never have to deal with.
  5. Wait, wait, wait! Australia is real? I thought they just made it up for that Baz Luhrmann movie...
  6. If we didn't boycott China's olympics for all their human right violations -that effet their whole population equally- it'd be kinda dumb to boycott Russia for discriminating against one minority group. Not saying what Russia's doing isn't wrong, but if you're gonna take a stand against an entire country you should do it for more than just "they don't like people like me". Also, sorry if that came off as rude. Totally wasn't meant to be :)
  7. I'm kinda torn. I love the book (and the first two sequels, the rest are total crap IMO) but "reproductive dysfunction" is one of the few anti-gay slurs that really pisses me off and I really don't wanna support anyone who's stupid enough to think that way in anything they do. >_> I don't usually support piracy, but...
  8. Not only a victory for gay marriage but a victory for states rights too. Now we can keep doing this the right way, state by state, instead of federally.
  9. Disagree completely. That would be a huge violation of the first amendment and, in my opinion, morally wrong. You can't punish people for their religious beliefs. The main reason we even have an America today is because the original colonists were running from religious persecution and even though I'm an atheist I believe that freedom of religion is one of the most important founding principals we have. We can't just start saying religious people are unfit to have kids just because we don't like their relgion.
  10. The entire child services/foster care/adoption system in this country is a mess IMO, but yeah I don't think you should place a child in a home with people who have religious or philosophical problems with that child. Again, I disagree that religion is bad for everybody, but when you have a religion that says homosexuality is evil you probably shouldn't be giving them gay kids to take care of.
  11. Awesome. I'd never even heard about them until today, but it's great that they realized how pointless and harmful they were. Hopefully this is the start of a trend.
  12. Ok I get what you're saying now. Yeah, you've got a point, we're kinda arguing different things.
  13. Is there a difference between ethics and morals though? The definitions are pretty much the same to the point where ethics is part of the definition for morals and vice versa.
  14. I'm not saying don't tell people about the possible harm, but if they know and still decide to choose it then people need to respect that choice. And even if his parents are saying "be celebate or we'll throw you out", it's still his choice. And when he's a legal adult he can reevaluate that choice. But it's all up to him. That's all I'm saying. As for the tolerance working both ways only when the action taken is the subject of doing the lesat harm thing, I totally disagree. According to religious people, being gay is a sin and it puts your immortal soul in danger of going to hell so in their view getting gays to give up their "sinful ways" is the least harmful option, even if it sounds stupid to us because we don't believe. Tolerance means accepting that other people have a right to have viewpoints and lifestyles that you disagree with, just like you have a right to live your life in a way that other people disagree with.
