  1. If the trend continues, and I'm talking about the uber rich controlling all of us with lies, deceit, and intimidation on and in all aspects of our lives, it may take another French Revolution to correct things.
  2. It took me a while to get there, but I finally read this charmer. It was a fun read. 👍
  3. When trying to post my Marshall post I kept getting a notice saying there was an error and it couldn't be posted. Imagine my surprise later. But then I couldn't figure out how to delete the extra posts. 😢

A nice story, making me wish my own youth had been more like that than it actually was. 👍
  5. Wow. This story almost forced me to binge read, but I needed a few hours of sleep. Combining nicely into the Border Wolves 'universe', it was a sheer pleasure to read. As an added bonus there are deliberate loose ends (hints) to which new stories can be attached.
  6. It's wonderfully written, and evoked memories of lakes and storms and climbing hills, but since I never sang or went to church that part didn't do much for me. Maybe it's just me, but I finished the story with a rather somber subdued sorrow.
  7. It's hardly any easier taking charge of badly matted hair, and the cat has that pair of scissors conveniently at hand.
  8. Interesting read, and obviously well thought out, and introspected. My take, from an asocial, autistic spectrum, romantic gay asexual is there isn't a gay community at all, at least anywhere that I can notice. I think of a community as a group who strive towards a support or betterment of its members, and anything else is just a cluster of individuals. My example, which may well be biased by my own experiences, would be sports oriented. You have the rah rah sis boom bah supporters of a particular club, and they wear uniform costumes, fly banners, cheer together, and drink in bars or just neighbourhood game parties. NOT a community. Then you have the kids and parents and other individuals who start a league, recruit members, arrange for coaching, develop an honor system, purchase equipment and venues. TOTALLY a community. So where do we find a gay community? We find them where there are people working to save gay lives, literally and emotionally. GSAs, and online groups finding and distributing resources. All those bar scenes, and, in my view, many pride events (rah rah sis boom bah), and many neighbourhoods are just clusters of gay people. It doesn't bother me, much, except I dislike the self deception so many enjoy in thinking that just being in a cluster makes them a member of a community. If the chips are down, and you need help, will those others help you? In a community they will. Judge carefully. Your wellbeing may depend on it.
  9. It's pretty ugly in BC Canada too. At some point everyone needs to recognize that taxes need to be paid to cover all that's necessary, and I'm talking about those rich bastards who could solve many of these problems but squirrel their money offshore.

I actually watched it a couple of years ago, but because of Camy's post I just watched it again. Really great show; choked me up pretty good. Netfix has it, but you have to spell almost the whole title in search before it shows up. BTW, I was bullied only a few time during my school years, in part because I'd react so forcefully (violently) that nobody dared for a few years. A reminder that I wasn't a pacifist, every three or four years, resolved bullying issues for me. 😈 I found out years later that people on the autistic spectrum (like me) will sometimes react instantly and instinctively, without thoughts about consequences, and generally exponentially harder than the provocation. I never realized that at the time; I just reacted. Having discovered this rather dangerous hair trigger I will now ALWAYS turn and walk away from such a situation. I truly hope I never chance upon a case of child or animal abuse though because I doubt I could turn away.
  11. I guess I should have mentioned they are hosted right here, at AD.
  12. I have no idea how I managed to miss Chris' awesome stories until now, but I'm making up for lost time, with lost sleep. So far, every one of them I've read has been gripping, well researched, and a downright pleasure to read, even the carefully described nasty parts showing the evils that people can do.
  13. I loved Yes Minister. 👍
  14. Sorry. I don't get it.
  15. I enjoyed the story, and could really see a lot of my own Aspie youthfulness in it. The very last paragraph grated a bit on me, as it's extremely unlikely that he moved forward to find other lovers in the next few years. Maybe one, eventually, after just as much effort as this first one.
  16. Finally found it, but not under Alan's list, but under Newest Short Stories.

    My son

    I enjoyed that. 👍
  18. My God. I couldn't even stand up in front of such a crowd without doing anything, except probably piss myself. The talent is amazing, the courage astounding. 👍🤗
  19. The last chapter is 9, called Pepper. March 6/19
  20. And then there's apple cider vinegar. 😖
  21. That's a challenge for sure. I don't recall reading such a story. Is there any more information available, such as how long ago that reader read it?
  22. Sounds like quite a wise young person. I don't really know who it is, or has done, but from the talk I gather it's music. I think social media should NOT be anonymous, and it would likely be a lot less toxic.
  23. Stopping after only finishing part one would be like self stimulating and then, at that final moment, stopping and maybe going to church. Not-going-to-happen. 😖
  24. I usually watch the news on a local station that is independently owned (by the staff). It is mostly NOT biased, and provides good local (within a hundred miles) news coverage, without the editorializing you get elsewhere. Much of it is information you cannot find (readily, if at all) online. Network news sucks.
