Fine stories have become rarer at Nifty--there are better sites, such as AD--but I recommend this one highly. It has a wonderful time and place feel with fine characters.

What a loss!

Odd. When I posted this, there were two more chapters in the list. Now, they have disappeared.

I see that Driver has now finished his latest story. I've not yet read it, but all of his other ones have been very good to outstanding.
Here it is:

Quality stories on Nifty are rarer and rarer, but an exception is https://nifty.org/nifty/gay/adult-friends/my-summer-on-fire-island.html . It is a good well-written story and highly erotic (ending with a predictable, heavy-sex session--something, I suppose, seems to be al Nifty requirement) .

I liked this story over at GayAuthors despite the author's decision an overly large number of (well-written) sex scenes. The story explores the rock-music stardom scene in interesting detail and with finely drawn characters. [The sex scenes are, of course, skimmable if you're staying with the underlying story.]

Actually, most of the following books -- 14 to date, I think -- are better. The author hits a nice stride.

My folks used to read Ellery Queen and MIckey Spillane's mysteries, originating, I believe, in the 1920s.
For WW II and mystery fans, I recommend the Billy Boyle series, which is recent but set in the 1940s and very well done.

After enjoying Double Concerto, I went back to look at Parker Owens' other stories and found a gem:

Engrossing. Well constructed. Fine writing.

After five chapters, this NIfty story is showing well.

While Nifty has become a bit of a desert with regard to good stories, this fine one is an exception.

This is a story that reaches the top of my all-time-best list. There is excellent character development and growth. It is well written, and it is absorbing. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I read Any Day based on a GA recommendation and continued on with Naked Calendar. Both are well done, engaging without an obtrusive sex presence and have likeable characters.

This short story is worth reading. It is well written, has characters of interest and is nicely plotted.

Miles from Home is a nicely written, well paced story. So far, it is very enjoyable.

I just tried this. You can copy a chapter [be sure to leave out the comments] and paste it into a Word document and change the font size to whatever.
A bit cumbersome, but it works.

Rarely do I find a story as good as The Acquittal
https://gayauthors.org/story/jdonley75/the-acquittal/
It is extremely well constructed with nice plot twists, has vivid characters, has moments of high emotion and is well written (but needing some editing, says I, the editor).
It is one story that can pull me away from my latest mystery writer--that being currently Kendra Elliott.
If you like the story, please let the author know and tell him or her that the recommendation came from Awesome Dude.

In the course of editing, I had to figure out how much three fingers of Macallan 86 was worth, so I searched for a bottle price on the internet. Three fingers would be worth about $4,000.

Marin Giustinian has produced a sweet, though oversexed, three-chapter story.

I find Marin Giustinian's stories engaging, including this new one:

The Inheritance Clause

You know early where this is going, but the trek is worth taking and there are surprises. Nicely written.
