  1. In my wanderings I come across a lot of interesting English Language sites, and thought that rather than bookmark them locally (I have so many sites bookmarked it's become futile trying to find the one I want) I'd post them here; that way I'll know where they are ... and others might find them entertaining too. Luciferous Logolepsy, a collection of over 9,000 obscure English words. http://www.kokogiak.com/logolepsy/ How big is yours? http://www.geocities.com/rnseitz/Vocabulary_Testing.html

    Dad

My father died in 1999. Never having had to personally deal with death before my sister and I had him cremated. I wrote this a good while later, and came across it yesterday. He would have laughed. Dad by Camy Dad is in the cupboard Underneath the stairs It's probably best a secret Though I'm sure he wouldn't care Dad is in the cupboard Or is he in the loft It's typical he can't be found When it's time to dust him off Time has healed the rawness Though I still miss him a lot He should be under glorious skies Not stuck inside a pot
  3. I've read Vance Lista's 'Cameron', which was very good. 'Unbreakable Faith' is on my list, which now stretches the length of the garden.... Too much to read, and never enough hours in the day. Camy
  4. Yay! Seventeen! It's a great age to be. I won't bore you with details, but I had a wonderful summer. Have a splendiferous time, Colin. Live it! Many happy returns & HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  5. Another goody from the Rabbit The characters are beautifully drawn, and the dialogue too real for comfort especially if you ever met my Grandmother. Sardi's (Thanks for the number. I'll make sure to book in advance before arriving) seems like the New York version of Fortnum and Mason's Fountain Restaurant. I'm drooling as I write. And a new word, thank you very much: Susurrus. Which is going straight into my next tale. Thank you TR, Camy
  6. Jason Rimbaud's prose gets better and better, and no I'm not being paid. This is an excellent short story. I won't say more 'cause I'm good at giving plot away. Just go and read it... Camy
  7. Just to stir the pot a little, with a cartoon Bwahahaha! Camy
  8. That is very odd and I haven't heard of it happening before. If you know what you were doing before and after the last time you used it I would suggest letting them know here: http://hendrix.mozilla.org/ or try the forums here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php very odd *walks away shaking head*, very odd...
  9. That's going to make their lawyers very very rich indeed.
  10. oh ... Oh ... OH! Super glue? What have I started? walks off to see bank manager, humming...
  11. I'm torn between 'Duel In Love' and 'Duel Of Love' Great poem Jason. Your middle name should be Prolific. J.P.Rimbaud. Then you could start a bank "'ere, I used to know ol' JP 'afore 'e started the bank. Na 'e rules the bleedin' world." They'll say. Perhaps I'll go now.
  12. Some people are genetically predisposed to complain, and it really doesn't matter what it is they're complaining about provided they can really get down and dirty with it. Fair game includes: Sexuality - whatever they're not Religion - ditto Politics - ditto Cogent argument doesn't dissuade them either. It takes all types to populate a dying planet.
  13. I like. Don't care if Shatner doesn't obviously leap out. If pushed I'd say it's because he's now a curmudgeonly old dude, but we remember him for being Jim Kirk thus: 'The reason that I?m calling, is I miss you a great deal Let's get a little nostalgia action going.' Good one Jason. Are you humming it? Camy
  14. Brilliant, and sadly plausible. Even more so, because I'm terrified of authority. If I get stopped at an airport I start shaking. I'd be the worst possible smuggler. It had me riveted. Camy
  15. That's almost spooky. I was just thinking about someone I had a huge crush on at school. I love the first two stanza's and as to the last ... it would be pretty damn good I think. When you find the time machine I'm in. Wonderful Thanks TR
  16. Another good FTP 'add on' is FireFTP for Firefox 2. It turns the Firefox browser into a fully functional FTP programme much like Cute or WS_PRO.
  17. Try AVG. They have both a free version (for personal use) and a commercial one. Link for free version
  18. Firefox does the same. You're right, it's great for reading stories!

    NaNoWriMo

Pseudo-hokey? there's nothing pseudo about it. Glad to have you aboard! I'm nearly 2,000 words in, which I wouldn't be unhappy about except I keep seeing the number 48,000 taunting me wherever I go. Because I've only ever written short stories I'm finding it hard. They say 'pad, ya gotta pad', but what with? Old t-shirts, cat hair and navel fluff don't seem to do the job.
  20. Actually I think it was you who mentioned Cowboy Beebop an anime character (which is comics at 24fps). Or perhaps it was Savik and his anime meaning small penii (collective noun for penises - well if it's not it should be) This is worthy of a look btw http://www.ojohaven.com/collectives/ Umm where was I? Oh yeah Herg?, who wrote Tintin came from Belgium, not France. Never heard of the Furry Freaks?!!! Heh, please let me turn you on.
  21. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, YES! I've just installed it tonight, and it's frankly AWESOME - though it doesn't come with a Dude ( ). Lots of very neat add-ons too... English Dictionary - check what you type as you type it. It highlights mistakes and with a right click give you the correct spelling. Fire FTP which seems as good as Cute or WS FTP Chatzilla - a full Internet Chat program. JaJah - web activated telephony - well worth checking out, I think, though everyone over here is asleep, so I'm gonna have to wait until the morning. and lots more. It's good stuff. Camy
  22. This is the URL for the toolbar: http://www.google.com/tools/toolbar/index.html
  23. So. Three years ago, on my birthday, I got in the bath and came out shaven. Even now I don't know what possesed me, it was a spur of the moment 'thing', but the look on everyones face was just ... magic! It took a couple of months to grow back. Though you are exactly the same person, people treat you very differently. Weird, but understandable. Sometimes a change is as good as a rest ... Baaaaaa!
  24. My avatar and I met somewhere - probably google images. Dunno why I adopted him, except I had a comment from Mr Savik about appearing as Sideshow Bob. I'm hoping I'm not the same Emu that Graeme photographed, but then as Emu's go I'm pretty fabulous bird, so I don't really care ... sweety. Anime. I have seen a few (chortle). Comics you can't beat 'The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers', Asterix, and Tintin. Colin, If you cut it, it grows back. Honestly
