  1. Just thought I'd make a few public comments to Codey concerning "Freefall". I love this story and the twists and turns in the plot. I do hope for a happy ending...Brian and Tobey might just make a cute couple. While I've said for a long time that Dewey is the King of Angst (For the love of Pete, Brian and Pete, and Life from a Distance), it appears that we might just have a new Prince of Angst in the making. Keep at it Codey, I'm looking forward to the next installment along with everyone else. Rick
  2. Thanks for the kind words, they are appreciated! I guess that hanging around with all the good writers here at AD and DW kind of rubbed off and caused the creative juices to start flowing. Creativity is contagious. I've had the concept for this story kicking around in the back of my mind for the last few years. A few months back I sat down at the computer, and it just started flowing out. I have 9 chapters in the can and hope to get a solid start on chapter ten today. If things go to plan, I envision three books since I'm from the old school and believe epic fantasy comes in trilogies. For those of you who haven't seen it yet, Chapter Two went live last night, and we hope to keep posting a new chapter every two weeks, workload permitting. I'd also like to give you a heads up that an artist friend of mine has agreed to sketch the major characters for me, so those drawings, appropriately credited, will start appearing as he can work the drawings into and around his day job. I'm really looking forward to seeing how that turns out as well. I'd like to say "Thanks" to Graeme, The Blue One, Codey, Jamie of Icaria, Camy, Talonrider, and my beta readers. Graeme for his initial support and advice, Ben for his fantastic work as an editor, Codey for offering "Chronicles" a home on the Web, and Jamie, Camy, and Talonrider for their kind words and support. I hope you all enjoy the latest installment of 'The Chronicles of Kadin.' Rick

    Do I Dare?

I'd say that Codey has his finger on the pulse of more than what is happening here on the net. American society is becoming a less tolerant, less civilized place these days: a place where everything must be a confrontation between polar opposites. This isn't the society I believe in, nor the country I spent the vast majority of my youth defending. -Rick
  4. Powerful, tragic, and all too common in our world today...... Thanks Codey.
  5. Okay....I wondered where you disappeared to! Hope things turn out well. Rick
  6. The nerve of those fascists!!! Administrators have no sense of humor. Holy Crap Codey!!! You have balls the size of honeydew melons!!! :smt077 :smt028 :smt077
  7. Graeme; Using the word "Haggis" and the word "Food" in the same sentence is one of the few unforgivable sins. Sheeps stomach stufffed with Oats......and stuff..... :smt078 Come visit Denver and I'll make you a whole platter of my world famous chicken enchilada's! Rick
  8. Codey; If only memory were that perfect......these days I have trouble remembering what I had for lunch. That might have something to do with all the technical gibberish I read these days. One comment on the jarring of meter, or flow. I personally think its a good way to emphasize a point....make your reader trip over it and read it again to make sure they actually got the point. As usual, a very nice piece......living next to those purple mountain majesties, your comment made me pause to look out the window and appreciate a view available in few places to even fewer people. BTW, I thought I'd posted a comment on "Billy - A Kid", but it seems the message was diverted into the bit bucket. I just wanted to say thanks for that vivid piece of poetry....it reminded me of my nephews in Oregon. How my sister keeps up with three active boys and a new little girl I'll never know! Those boys make me tired just watching them play! BTW, you owe me an e-mail!!! ;-) Rick
  9. Absolutely.......another one that plucks at the heart-strings. Next thing we know, you'll be writing stories and giving Graeme, Grasshopper, and Dewey a run for thier money! Rick
  10. Another nice one my friend..... Rick
  11. Not bad.... Rick
  12. Graeme; Brew Maxwell shifts his stories narrative POV on a regular basis in the Foley-Mashburn Saga. He simply starts a section off with text in italics indicating who (which character) is picking up the story from that point, until the next shift of POV. It seems to work well for him and enables him to explore the same event from another persons perspective.... Rick
