well, i was here in oslo (norway) glued to cnn on the television and chatting with friends in the usa on the computer. i am an expat who gave up his american citizenship many years ago, so i could not vote - however i have followed the election process closely. i am proud to see the homeland i was born in stepping up to the plate and electing to consider change for the better. as a person with black american background i do not have words to express my excitement at seeing that america and americans have come so far ... and i commend all of us who have worked for this - from the emancipation of slaves to civil rights to affirmative action to a black american president. i hope that america's new leadership receives the support, cooperation and patience that it needs from all in the usa and abroad. the challenges ahead are many, but with a foundation of hope and unity anything can be achieved.

Okay, I am hesitant to enter this fascinating discussion because I am writing under my actual name here. Those who have read "Entre Nous" have an idea of some of my perspectives on this question. What I find bizarre with this discussion is the beating around the bush. For me the real question is that of the definition of predator - who is the "real" predator and who is being played to "play out" a role - for whatever purpose? This is a popular theme these days in international literature and art photography, and further exploration is needed. I am amused by the comments regarding the "tortured" writer ... and paedophilia. Is that the extent of this "literary piece" (granted, W. pushes the conventional "story" structure - which I encourage)? Not for me, at least. I see the question of predator becoming victim and victim becoming predator in a co-dependency relationship as the primary theme. I applaud W. for having the creative courage to present this on this website, and Dude for permitting it. You could safely drop the disclaimer W. No one will mistake you for Nabokov here.

There are somatic and mental ups and downs, and as one gets older even more questions regarding additional diagnoses, what medications go well together with hiv meds and which do not, many questions regarding the effects of medications over time and the effects of the virus which hides itself in places such as the brain and organs, etc. Reading up on latest research will take up a bit of your time, but one also needs time to get other questions about life (and death) in perspective. Creative expression is a necessity for many artists and writers diagnosed with hiv/aids. It has been essential to me. hugs and kisses,adam

Cheer up Bucko! Things are tough, and will get tougher yet. However, there are many signs that several persons are starting to "wake up" and change their values, thoughts, words and actions to create a better world and more healthy and holistic collective consciousness. I am actually thankful for the economic crisis because that is usually what it takes for most people to stop just thinking about themselves (unfortunately). Every day the human race has a new chance to turn things around. I believe in humanity and humanoids in the end.

Hi D.! Just to keep the record straight, my problems with Norton removal were not regular - but due to a systemic problem caused by a flaw in the regular Norton program that had made compatibility problems over a longer time, and which finally wreaked havoc. The regular removal program did not function because of that flaw and I needed direct help from the Norton provider to remove it. It was successful and the service was quite good. As regards Norton 360, it is a comprehensive maintenance system that is very effective and a good quality product. (no, I do not work there) But everyone must figure out what is best for them, and which programs go together - just like with everything else in life when one uses many different specialists, medications, computer programs, browsers etc. AVG is quite good - even the free version.

Sorry to come in so late, Cole. I have been busy with arranging the international literature festival, and did not see your comment before now. But I just wanted to say "ditto" in regards to problems getting rid of Norton. I had the same problem and had to get consultant help to remove it because there was an error in the system that prevented regular removal. However, Norton consultants do have a program that takes care of such but you have to contact a technician and ask for it. As regards AVG, I like it but there are constant upgrades -- it is almost too good in other words. Do not confuse regular Norton (often free with internet subscriptions) with Norton 360 (which costs a bit). Norton 360 is quite good and cannot be compared with regular Norton (which is a piece of xxxx). BTW, does anyone know of several newer free photo-editing program that permit / enable pixel reduction of files? Many of the new ones do not give that option.

AVG is quite good ... and for those who will pay a few bucks I can recommend Norton 360.
