  1. That Chrisian nationalism threat I think is very real. They're trying to establish footholds all over at grassroot levels. Town boards, school boards, state legislatures, city governments and the like, and they're pursuing odious agendas. Banning books that are helpful to childrens' understanding of the real world the inhabiit and trying to push a fictitious one based an Biblical concepts that have been proven false by sciences. Threatening womens' rights and control over their own bodies. Pushing for a theocracy. This is a real threat, and it's growing. C
  2. I've known women like that. Who of us haven't? C
  3. Very fortunate indeed, which we'll lean in Ch 2. C
  4. And seemingly even more possible now. I think in November we'll be voting on the future of America.
  5. Congratulations. I don't know how you guys do it. C
  6. I believe Write By Myself was the author MIke called Wibby. He has his own forum directory listed as the Raccoon. We haven't heard from him for years. He was actually the one who wrote me after reading something of mine on Nifty and invited me to come to AD. But as I say, it was years ago. C
  7. I remember this one. Good story. Emotional read. C
  8. You don't need any help from me! I think you're at the top of a list of the best authors at AD. Just write more!!! C
  9. Thanks. You seem to be doing fine. But yes, I guess you sort of followed Ren's story arc. C
  10. All those are great. I read a book about making The Princess Bride. Andre the Giant was pictured as a wonderrul, kind and gentle man. I love that moved, too.
  11. Great story. I especially liked Doug. That's how older teens should be with little kids! I use that line myself with people coming to the house: "He loves strangers, and your onlyi worry is that he'll lick you to death." We've had several Labs and a Dobey as well. All loved kids. Ditto what R said. Love seeing you back here, James. C
  12. Twelve Angry Men is an absolutely great movie. I didn't realize it was his first. He got superb performances from his entire cast. I think it was a much better film than any of the others listed. Be very difficult to suprass that first one. C
  13. not the picutre in my head at all. but then, when ever is it?
  14. Scary then, perhaps scarier now.
  15. Brialliantly is the perfect descriptive for how Camy writes. c
  16. Hear, hear, Doug. And don't forget the lives saved. I've personally received a few letters from teens telling me a story has given them renewed hope and kept them from killing themselves. And my writing is only a smigeon of what's on this site. This is a treasure, and worth all the efforts that went into saving it. C
  17. Very nice, James. AD has missed you. I've missed you. C
  18. I had 40 years dealing wlth the stuff. Enought. I like L.A. It has problems, but what city doesn't? C
  19. Ah, middle school. Except that when I went it was called junior high school. It ran from 7th through 9th grade, except that the year I went it started at 6th grade because the elementary schools had run out of space. Me too. I'm afraid that proves we're both really old. Everyone calls it middle school now. And I think there's much more difference between 6th and 7th graders than 7th and 8th. I think our system, middle school being 7-9, made much more sense. And I sure woudn't have been ready for high school when I was in 9th grade in Jr. High. Not sure I was when I did enter high school, but that's another story. And apologies for butting in on James fine story. I love your writing, James. You know that. C A
  20. A story, but two would be better! C
  21. Great Valentine's Day stories from Camy and James. Both are talented writers who should be showing up on our story pages more often. We can only wish! Wonderful job, guys. Thanks. C
  22. If you're writing one, James, I will, too. Don't want you to be lonely.
  23. We owe a huge debt to John and Rutabaga and others for the substantial effort and expertise they put into this. Without them, AD would be no more.
  24. I won't go into details, either, other than he was worried. People ocme and go, and It's always worrisome when they go silent.
