Great story. I especially liked Doug. That's how older teens should be with little kids!
I use that line myself with people coming to the house: "He loves strangers, and your onlyi worry is that he'll lick you to death."
We've had several Labs and a Dobey as well. All loved kids.
Ditto what R said. Love seeing you back here, James.

Twelve Angry Men is an absolutely great movie. I didn't realize it was his first. He got superb performances from his entire cast. I think it was a much better film than any of the others listed. Be very difficult to suprass that first one.

Scary then, perhaps scarier now.

Brialliantly is the perfect descriptive for how Camy writes.

Hear, hear, Doug. And don't forget the lives saved. I've personally received a few letters from teens telling me a story has given them renewed hope and kept them from killing themselves. And my writing is only a smigeon of what's on this site. This is a treasure, and worth all the efforts that went into saving it.

Ah, middle school. Except that when I went it was called junior high school. It ran from 7th through 9th grade, except that the year I went it started at 6th grade because the elementary schools had run out of space.
Me too. I'm afraid that proves we're both really old. Everyone calls it middle school now. And I think there's much more difference between 6th and 7th graders than 7th and 8th. I think our system, middle school being 7-9, made much more sense. And I sure woudn't have been ready for high school when I was in 9th grade in Jr. High. Not sure I was when I did enter high school, but that's another story.
And apologies for butting in on James fine story. I love your writing, James. You know that.

A story, but two would be better!

Great Valentine's Day stories from Camy and James. Both are talented writers who should be showing up on our story pages more often. We can only wish!
Wonderful job, guys. Thanks.

If you're writing one, James, I will, too. Don't want you to be lonely.

We owe a huge debt to John and Rutabaga and others for the substantial effort and expertise they put into this. Without them, AD would be no more.

I won't go into details, either, other than he was worried. People ocme and go, and It's always worrisome when they go silent.

NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU AGAIN, JAMES. POWERFUL WORDS ABOUT DEPRESSION.

You guys do like to keep busy, don't you?
WELL DONE!

And I live in an area just below the foothills of our surrounding mountains. I watch all the water flow downhile away from me and grin. Location, location.
It has been raining a lot. Bibliacally, some would say

You've done a miraculous and mostly unsung job with this, R, and abundant thanks are about all you're getting, but you should feel enormous pride. This is an amazing site, and you've been a major part in keeping it alive. Without your assistance, we probably would not be where we are now.
Please accept my heartfelt gratitude, and I sure that of thousands of others.

I don't know how he did it, but the four novels Alien Son posted as this months suggestions on the Picks from the Past list are all four among my very favorites. Well done, sir, well done indeed! If anyone is unfamiliar with any of them, he's in for a real treat. And if it's just a reminder of something read before and liked, it's well worth a second glance.

I feel honored to announce that AwesomeDude has be given the opportunity to run the works of Gordon Klopfensetein on this site. He was a featured writer on Ted Lousis' great site. Gordon's work now has a home here. I hope all of you enjoy it as much as I did and do. AwesomeDude is setting up a special section displaying his entire output. His writing displays his care about children, and it is powerful, complelling writing. It fits well on this site.

I don't remember the earlier version, but I doubt this one shows much decine of mental acuity with age. The fact I don' t remember the first one is my problem. My memory is like a sieve wth the holes constanly enlarging.

You guys are too kind. Thanks.
When Ren finishes, another one will go up I'm rather proud of. I began it several years ago and didn't quite know what to do with it. I figured it out. I hope you'll like it.

All those are great. I read a book about making The Princess Bride. Andre the Giant was pictured as a wonderrul, kind and gentle man. I love that moved, too.
