  1. Another gentle take on the tradition by Cole. Nicely done! Read here and enjoy: http://www.awesomedude.com/cole-parker/tricking-and-treating/tricking-and-treating.htm No prizes for guessing who missed reading the rubric at the top of the story and had to work out who Ryan was the hard way!
  2. As we get closer and closer to our annual spooky commemoration of Hallowe’en, the sweets shakedown holiday, don’t neglect to take a look at Mike’s delicious selection of twisted tales and scary stories for this month as featured in the Dude’s Picks section of the home page. Many of these will be old favorites, some perhaps new discoveries that may keep you up with the lights on. This has always been a holiday we Family members have long enjoyed, since it not only provides an excuse to dress up and act out, it also gives the closeted among us an opportunity to hide in plain sight. Happy Ha
  3. In a week of terrible news about parents torturing their kids to death I had to find something else to focus on, something good, and here it is:
  4. Two zombies enjoy Hallowe'en on a budget. It takes real guts to write a story like this. Find it here: http://www.awesomedude.com/desdownunder/the-zombies-halloween/the-zombies-halloween.htm
  5. I think this one wins the white knuckle ride award. It's tense. http://www.awesomedude.com/gee_whillickers/the-demons-within/the-demons-within.htm
  6. Although 'Sidewinder Ranch' starts off trope, with an unhappy boy moving away from his friends, it then plunges beautifully to the dark side. Perfect Halloween fare! Read it here
  7. A well written tale, with a rather unique spin on its title. Happy endings? You'll have to read it to find out. Read it here.
  8. That is one terrific, and has a very evocative title. The world-building was excellent, too. My only niggle is with the abruptness of the ending. On paper I'd be hunting for the next page.
  9. Wonderful! If only I had Speilberg's phone number.... Read it here.
  10. I liked 'The King of the Corn Maze' a lot. In fact I got so wrapped up in it my dinner got cold. The protagonist, Finn, reminded me a little of Pinkie in Graham Greene's Brighton Rock. Kudos, Cynus. Read it here
  11. Many a night, deep in my cups, I plot how to kidnap Cole's muse. How does the man do it? Cole Parker by The House Cole Parker's 'The House' is a terrific read. So what are you waiting for. Do! Read it here
  12. Erm, yes. Bit of an obvious title, really. Read it here
  13. Great Halloween story by Free Thinker, filled with humanity and truth. If you want to come away from a story feeling warm and cozy, this is the one. Read it here C
