Alexander Malofeev - Greig's Piano Concerto in A minor

Recommended Posts

Beautiful, and all without music in front of him. Anybody want to bet that he's on the autistic spectrum? That's not a knock, btw.

One is overwhelmed by this young prodigy's accomplishment.  Born in 2001, he is 19 and already has a career that astounds.  At the age of 14 he won the Tchaikovsky  (8th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians).  If you ever have a chance to see and hear him play in live concert, seize it.  More details:

That's what it takes: practicing 10 hours a day, starting when you're five.  Doing that, and also having the mysterious, magical talent.  Not many have that.

The guy is phenomenal.

I just had to add my favorite of Rachmaninoff's Piano Conderto s  --- No 2!

For some reason, he must have felt emotional about the number two.  Both his second piano a concerto and his second symphony are incredibly poignant and sentimental.

Malofeev is amazing.  I loved his Grieg, but this?  Rachmaninoff is exceptionally difficult to play, and he makes it look easy.  What talent.  What passion.  Incredible.
