"Beyond Salvation" by Mark Peters

I remember reading this story some time back (before it was a Pick from the Past), and I'm sure there used to be a topic here for it.  Oh well . . . .

In addition to the multi-level play on words in the title, the story skillfully keeps us wondering whether the on-again, off-again connection between the two main characters will ever solidify.  My only real gripe is that I would have liked to find out what consequences befell the cretin Timmy for nearly killing Dallas by his infantile behavior. 

Good repeat read.
