Thirdeye
quote="writebymyself"] Metallica rocks (literally) but some of their post black-album stuff is awesome. How can you categorically dismiss it. TP is great but I like his older stuff better than his newer stuff, though DJ kicked ass. Damn the Torpedos! Elton is great, Floyd is sublime, and Zeppelin may be great but they are the single most overrated group in history: their legend far surpasses the overall quality of their oeuvre. As for Mettallica its not that I don't like there newer stuff(although St Anger sucked) I just look at it as two different bands. Pre-Black album was speed metel at its best(injustice for all is one of the best albums ever IMHP) and Load and Re-load to me fits more with the alternative style then metel. It does not mean its bad, just not as good as there old stuff. I still have all their albums, and "the bleeding of me" is one of my favorite songs. I also agree about Petty is older stuff is a lot better. i'm all for tool, radiohead, (no sumblime), deftones, weezer, nirvana, alice in chains (i touched jerry cantrell's nipple!!), hehe i even know and like icp, and pantera and pre-follow the leader korn.as far as more obscure bands go, i love op ivy, kula shaker, thin lizard dawn, superdrag, failure, the list goes on. . LMAO! Cantrell was imo the hottest of the grunge guys, that may not be saying a lot, but anyway.(Ok Cobain has a look also). Also agree 100% about Korn. Korn and Life as Peachy were great albums, and I don't buy much into bands selling out and junk like that, but if there was ever a band that sold its soul to MTV it was korn. After all they were the same band that said when MTV refused to play A.D.I.D.A.S, that they didn't care or would they ever want to be on MTV. But my brother said the best shows hes seen have been Korn, Sevendust and Manson. Link to comment

JamesSavik
Is it loud, does it thrash? Is it bold, is it brash? Does it make me bang my head? Or does it make me think instead? Is it metal, jazz or punk, Psycadellic, synthethic or way cool funk? Does it lift me up and make me high? Or does it inspire me to ask why? Does it get into my head? Or another part of me instead? Does it make me look at life? Does it settle my interal strife? Does it really have heart, Or is it just commercial art? Classic Rock, techno, smooth old Blues, Rock the house and move your shoes, Make a joyful noise in the silence of the night, Split asunder darkness with your delight. :smt109 Link to comment
JamesSavik
This song haunts me. Yeah- sure it's not high art but even a blind squirell is going to find a nut every now and then. I speaks to me in a way that really gets under my skin reminding me of some one a long time ago. Someone who's laughter was music to me. Someone who filled that hole in my soul. Someone whose pain was torment to me. Someone whose life was dearer to me than my own. Someone who made me feel human instead of the horrible, feral thing that I became. Someone who would wrap their arms around me and there was nothing else- just light and warmt and the pain was gone. Someone who was all the joy on heaven and earth to me. Someone that I watched die an inch at a time as the light drained out of my world. I've never been the same since. It's been almost 10 years and I still dream about him. I wake up and cry. I see him sometimes. It's not really him. Just people that look like him and I know that my expression freaks them out. It's better now but some things don't heal. I see him as we were in my dreams and in my nightmares I see him in so much pain at the end with wires, tubes and hoses all over him. I asked God to take me instead. No I begged him on my knees but he never listens. The cruel bastard left me here alone instead. ...and they say that I'm the one who needs to be forgiven. I'm sorry. I'm more than a little f-ed up. Trying to learn to live again. ==================================== Broken I wanted you to know I love the way you laugh I wanna hold you high and steal your pain away I keep your photograph; I know it serves me well I wanna hold you high and steal your pain ?Cause I?m broken when I?m open And I don?t feel like I am strong enough ?Cause I?m broken when I?m lonesome And I don?t feel light when you?re gone away The worst is over now and we can breathe again I wanna hold you high, you steal my pain away There?s so much left to learn, and no one left to fight I wanna hold you high and steal your pain ?Cause I?m broken when I?m open And I don?t feel like I am strong enough ?Cause I?m broken when I?m lonesome And I don?t feel right when you?re gone away ?Cause I?m broken when I?m open And I don?t feel like I am strong enough ?Cause I?m broken when I?m lonesome And I don?t feel light when you?re gone away Link to comment
