Just a picture of an island...

Recommended Posts

Taal Lake is just South of of the city of Manila on the big island of Luzon- largest island in the Philippines.

The whole area is very geologically active as it sits on the boundaries of four tectonic plates: the Philippine Sea plate, the Eurasian plate, the Indo-Australian plate and the Indian plate. Malaysia is in the same geological area and was home to the 2005 Christmas tsunami which was caused by a magnitude 9 quake on the sea floor.

The Philippine Islands are home to at least 20 active volcanoes and over a hundred dormant ones.
