Rather than capturing a single static plane of focus, Lytro captures the entire light field which means you can focus after you take the shot - or re-focus. Give it time though, I remember when digital cameras first started out, and everybody "in the know" said to not bother as they'll never take off and never be near as good as film. Link to comment
