Should America boycott the 2014 Winter Olympics?

Putin is doing what he is doing for internal political consumption. Russians in general and Putin in particular don't care what the rest of the world thinks about them. Their whole psychology has been us against the world for decades.

If you boycott the olympics, that will allow Putin to be the big Russian strongman who stood down decadent Westerners.

I agree that it is a mess over there but almost anything that "decadent foreigners" might do will most probably backfire.

They may no longer be the Soviets but they have decades of brainwashing and propaganda in the public consciousness that have painted the West as decadent and weak.

Putin is beating his chest and showing his serfs what a manly leader he is.
