Aussie Prime Minister Pro Gay Marriage

Recommended Posts

Sadly, it is likely that he won't be Prime Minister after Saturday when we have our federal election. The Liberal Party/National Party coalition is likely to take control of the lower house at that time. Their current stance is against gay marriage, though there is a very visible section of the Liberal Party that is pro-gay marriage. The official stance of the current leader of the opposition, Tony Abbott, is that they'll discuss the matter after the election to decide if they'll change their official stance. We'll have to wait until after we've elected a new government before we find out whether they'll allow a conscience vote on gay marriage.
