We talk a lot about language. On occasion when I am writing something I use a phrase in dialogue that makes perfect sense to me and then wonder if I am just kidding myself. Heading for the dictionary (online of course) doesn't always relieve my concerns. Nothing worse than spending half an hour looking for the roots of a word or phrase when the plot of a story is screaming for resolution.
