A Colin teaser....

Recommended Posts

The story is now posted, correctly positioned in the New Year, at http://codeysworld.com/colinian/one-complicated-new-year/one-complicated-new-year.php.

Sorry, a work emergency at a client (a very bad power surge from our friends at PG&E) and holiday involvements with relatives and friends slowed down this story.

Sorry, a work emergency at a client (a very bad power surge from our friends at PG&E)

When I had computer equipment in a shaky power environment I discovered that I had to use not only a bank of UPS boxes but also a line voltage stabilizer similar to this one:

http://www.tripplite.com/line-conditioner-1800w-avr-system-automatic-voltage-regulator-power-conditioner-ac-surge-protector~LC1800/

It turned out that the voltage was swinging wildly during hot weather. This box (or versions of it) automatically adjusted the output voltage to be fairly normal even with wide input swings. Something to consider.

Glad the story is up.
