The cool thing is that one of those I contacted was so moved by the kid's situation that she's going to create a website geared toward helping kids get out of situations like this. Helping link those that have been kicked out with those that can help them. Hopefully this will actually work out, and we'll be able to help more people.

Thank you for the update. I have been mobilizing my resources in Kentucky to try and find a home for him, and I had two people lined up who had already sent him a message through reddit. I was pleased to be able to tell them that it looks like we can stand down from red alert. I'm going to keep watching this closely for the next few days, but I'm glad that it seems the worst is over.

I agree. I've sent this link to a number of groups that I know contain LGBT sympathetic people who live in Kentucky. I'm hoping that if his situation hasn't already improved that at least someone will be able to do something.

The Normal Heart deserves to be on everyone's watch list.
I didn't even know it existed until the love of my life told me that I had to watch it. He was right.

I said at the beginning that I hadn't watched any of them, and now realize that it isn't entirely true. I've seen the first half of Brokeback Mountain. I do have a couple of other ones I would add to the list though. Both "House of Boys" and "The Normal Heart" are incredibly moving films.

I haven't had the opportunity to meet any of the AD authors yet, but there is an open invitation for anyone passing through Salt Lake City. There are a number of authors I have wanted to meet over the years, and I've met a few of those that I read off of the web. Some, like Brandon Sanderson(Who I know is not always all that popular here) I have met several times. I've enjoyed all of these experiences, and I think meeting people who see the world as writers do is almost always a fulfilling experience, especially when you get to share not only ideas, but an understanding of the story behind an author.
So, this goes for readers as well, but next time you're in Salt Lake City, drop me an email and I'll gladly meet up with you. -

He was a fun character. SS is out in rural territory - where they would have mazes - and it wouldn't be a stretch for Max and Finn to find themselves there. Just sayin'
Good point. But is there room for people like Jack? I didn't want to step on any toes by making my contribution to Sanitaria Springs be a fantasy one. But I do have an idea... maybe in another month or so?

You'll find AD's link here. The story invites writers to add on to the town and its characters. It's open to everyone, and I know Cynus had one coming. I feel as though he is teasing me, now, much as Camy has been for over a year now. Great things are expected.
My first idea was going to be long those lines, but it didn't pan out. The character I was going to bring to Sanitaria Springs just didn't mesh well with me, and I ended up being stumped on how to continue it. Don't worry, I'll join the community soon enough, but I need to find the right people to put in your quiet little town. I've acquired a few more ideas on how to proceed, but haven't committed them to paper yet.
Thank you for everyone who read this story, both those who liked it and those who didn't. I really enjoyed writing this one, because I couldn't get enough of writing Finn.

Is all lost? Is it futile to resist? Darn another cliff hanger in this exciting fantasy adventure.
My favorite characters in Ashes of Fate... of course Tristan but also Micah, Jacob and Peter. And somehow during this story I've developed an aversion to wolves!
Ah... ooooowwwwwwww!
It will be decided next Saturday. We'll have to see if they succeed or not.
It's all right by me to like Micah or any of the other characters more than Tristan. Micah's my favorite, and he kind of stole the show for me when he started developing. I can't imagine my favorite will change, but who knows? They're all still in development.

I would like to say there is a story in this somewhere...but what are we going to do when this is considered normal. What will we write about? Nothing like a white knight for social justice without a horse to ride.
I think we'll just have to settle for writing stories with gay protagonists that fall in love with men, but never even bring their sexuality up. Won't it be nice when we don't have to make our characters "gay" we can just have them fall in love with whoever they need to fall in love with?
I personally look forward to this day, when our sexuality is no longer a cause to have to play the white knight.
But there will still be reason to write these stories as well, just as there are still reasons to write about the holocaust.

You read it correctly, Rutabaga. These parents have come to learn that what they did to their son was grossly inappropriate, and they are acknowledging the people who have told them that was the case and admitting that their accusers are in the right.

This was one of the most gripping adventures I've experienced in a long time. The world was masterfully created, and for a short story no less! Nigel's world remained true to itself for the entirety of the tale, and it's well worth viewing if you love fantasy.

Loved it! Gave me some perspective I needed on a problem, actually. I love the way that Sanitaria Springs is shaping up.
