  1. Hey, Rose,

That's not flash fiction, that's poetry!

Beautiful piece of writing, it seems the shorter it is the more finely crafted it needs to be - every word must count, be honed and chiselled so that it fits perfectly and supports the structure. There's no space for anything that doesn't pull its weight.

    This is a bonsai story!

    Bruin

It's a flash story alright. Like I said, this one made me think about it before I started to write.

Thank you for saying so. And yes, it does need to be written just right to give the impact you want in such few words. This one just came to me after the first line. I just recalled on my experience for love and it turned out longer then I was anticipating.

I'm glad you do like it though. :lipssealed: Thanks, again.

  2. As I'm sure you've noticed, I write flash stories. They are generally somewhere between 200 to a few thousand words, depending on how fast I type before the timer goes off. *glares at egg timer*

Anyways, I decided to post this one here since it's one that made me take a moment and really thing.

You can find all of the stories here

    Prompt word # 7: Love

Its butterflies in the stomach and smiles that carry a secret. It?s walking hand in hand, even if it in secret. Its soft kisses and softer looks. It?s holding each other close, no need for sexual intimacy every night.

Its giggles and laughs, even at the stupidest things. It?s forgiving after a big fight and compromise before.

Its life for the heart and soul that fills you up and never leaves you empty. It?s the light in the dark that I want in my life for always.

It?s the one thing that has a duel side though. It can cut and maim, leaving you sobbing and in pain. It can destroy you even as it rebuilds you.

But it?s always there just for you.

  3. It didn't take much to wrestle it away from him, Rose. I've got it and I'm about ready to hand it back to him. I've gone thru it with my editors pen and read thru it in stages. Now I want to read thru all 67 pages uninterrupted. It's an interesting story. I've never seen zombie's portrayed quite like this.

I'll shut up now. I don't want to spoil anything. :lipssealed:

    Jan

Yeah! Don't give away how the people become...I'll just shut up now....

Though I'm going through it like the psycho beta I am. I'm pointing out where there are weak spots mostly. Though I am enjoying the read.

  4. Hey Rose, welcome. I hope you enjoy AD's forums and stories. We'd love for more readers and writers to join in the conversations.

Dude considered calling it "Awesome Dude, Dudette, and Semi-Dude-Semi-Dudette dot com" but that seemed somehow a bit extravagant. ...OK, OK, actually, he ran out of letters on the little sign....

:laughs: At Sharon's great comment. -- I think the other ladies who visit are just more selective about posting. Yeah, selective, that's it; not shy or anything.

Everybody's welcome, talking critters and all. Hey, they even let me in here.

Thanks. *snickers* I'm sure you are a nice person. Especially if they let you here. :hehe:

Anyways, live I've said, I like it here. It's a nice area and I find it fun to read the posts.

For now though, I'm going to celebrate posting my newest chapter of my story on eFiction.

  5. Eats it. Then craps in your shoes anyway because that's how raccoons show gratitude.

Psycho Chick is redundant, isn't it? :D

    ::runs like hell::

*looks in shoes* *scoots them away*

I don't know...My friend said that to me one time and it kinda stuck. Thought it was funny.

I hope you've found a good place to hide. She knows how to fight. :hehe:

I will pounce you kitty boy. Heck, I'll do that anyways. *pounces* *cuddles without mercy* *bounces off leaving behind a ruffled tiger*

  6. You damn well best not call any of us regular* again. Your welcome will expire. You should know better.

    Normal.

    Indeed.

    Hmph.

    * The use of this term to describe bowel movements is acceptable, but the practice of discussing bowel movements is not.

Um...when did this become the place to talk about the regular people? *looks around innocently* *sees raccon* *coos* *pulls out caramel popcorn and puts it in front of raccon*

  7. *reads posts* *falls to floor laughing before coughing harshly* Okay...so my response to a couple of these are as follows:

You think THAT is a rant? Wooo, are you in for a surprise or two then! lol

Plus now that my job has gone POOF thanks to more automation, I have too much time to spend online. And I'm used to typing quickly, as well as in great quantity.

And I try not to rant, but when an emotion is involved, well, OFF I GO!

Do not be afraid to post. The writing challenge is brand new, and just for fun, and just for something to do.

Did you not see the word slight? *snickers softly* Anyways, I'm having a lot of fun posting and reading everything.

..... and pays for it afterwards, Des.

    Oh, ehh, Rose;

This is another hello to you!

Nice hello, actually. Thanks, I think...

  8. No shock, lol. Not to put down GA, but AD is far less stuffy. But the ones that come here are active, not lurkers. I've been asked why I 'hang out at a site for kids like AD'. Pffffft. This place is far more adult and mature than I've seen yet in the genre. And most of the regulars and authors are adults. The stories might circle around youths and teens, but they do everywhere that isn't full of A/S/L posts and a chat room with the same. The 'adult chat sites' make me want to hurl. AD is about as 'for kids only' as the Cartoon Network is! If you pass by quickly and just glance, it might look that way, but if you stop and watch a while, you'll see it's far superior to other places in many ways.

Welcome in, and hope you feel as comfortable and welcome as I do.

Went on a slight rant there, didn't you? *snickers* I don't mind. It's a nice site so far and seems very welcoming, as I've said. I'm having fun so far. I like the subjects and find myself giggling on most and terrified to post on others. Mostly the writing challenges.

    Thanks for the welcomes again.

  9. Hello Rose, Hello Rose, Hello Rose, Hello Rose, Hello Rose, Hello Rose, Hello Rose, Hello Rose, Hello Rose, Hello Rose....

    Right that should do it.

Just making sure we keep our hello numbers higher than any where else.

Um....wow? Thank you? *cackles* *pounces* *cuddles Des without mercy* *bounces off leaving behind a ruffled and dazed Des behind*

  10. I think you'll find that most of the people here at AwesomeDude are writers and editors. And there's still one of the regulars you haven't heard from yet.

I may have to hunt for someone here. I seem to have lost one of my betas.

Anyways, Who haven't I heard from so I can pout at them? I have it all ready to use to.

Oh and *pounces* *cuddles Talon without mercy* *bounces off leaving behind a ruffled talon behind*

  11. Alright. I showed Rose that paragraph as it stands right now, in version 4.3. And she says it looks good. I wasn't going to complete it until ROSE thought that paragraph was okay. We fought a little over it. She gave me a black eye, I spilled my drink on her. We ended up on the floor, in some broken glass, drinking out of the bottles we broke against each other's heads and deciding . . . Well. I can't remember. I was drunk. But when I woke up, she wasn't there.

    My heart still aches.....

    ------------------------------

    Seriously, though:

I wanted to tell you version 4 is double-dead ("super dead" in zombie-ease.) Version 5 is here and I've completed the story.

That's right! It's fucking done. AHAHAHA!! Cue the victory music. [Elvis Presley, "A Little Less Conversation" (JXL Radio Edit)]

:: does the "fucking done" dance ::

Now I'm really looking for beta readers and editors.

*falls to floor and laughs hysterically* *gets up* *wipes tear from eyes* *brushes off clothes*

Okay, now that's done...*fixes shirt* He does need someone who is willing to wrestle this out of his hands now. He's good alone. He'll be better with a good beta and editor. I would do it, but I don't have many people on my resume right now. That and I'm still slightly hungover from the fight...

  12. *Sheepish grin*

I totally forgot to tell you about it...Sorry...In hindsight, I realize that I should've told you about it.. :)

It would have been nice to know that you were pimping my stories here to. But I forgive you. *hugs tightly*

  13. Woohoo!

    Cool poem, Rose!

    Very melancholy, atmospheric and pessimistic.

    And ecologically sound!

Nice to read it, thanks for posting it!

    Bruin

Thank you very much. ^_^ It's an earlier poem, but it's still one of my best poems out there. I'm rather happy with it.

  14. It's kinda sad, but then again, when I wrote this, I was rather depressed. I hope that it's alright to post this here.

    A single drop,

Slipping and sliding down her face.

A look of sadness in her eyes,

    In her expression.

    Watching the world,

    As it slowly dies.

    People fighting each other.

    Fighting for something so meaningless

That it would bring tears to an Angel.

    Tears start to gather,

As the Angel continues to stare.

    Her heart slowly breaking,

As the world continues to be destroyed.

    Tears of an Angel,

    Are the rarest kind.

But we have been able to make the

    Angels cry out in pain,

    As we slowly, but surely,

    Destroy ourselves and the world.

  15. This may not be one of my bright days, but where do I go to read the stories?

I can't see them listed on the site.

It's true, I'm posting on GA's story site eFiction right now. I just joined yesterday so I haven't had time to start to post here. I hope you enjoy them. ^_^

  16. It's just a loaf.... What's the big deal?

Welcome, Rose. If you'd like, just hand me your shoes and I'll take care of them for you.

No insult, but I like my flip flops. Thank you though. And thank you for the welcome. ^_^ It's nice to be welcomed by so many.

    Welcome to AwesomeDude, Rose.

    Tragic Rabbit/TR

Nice rabbit roar. Thank you for welcoming me.

Well, a girl, at last! Not that I'm looking for one.

    Rad :bunny:

*snickers* Yes, a female. A feamle who is about to say screw the dating scene and become a nun...sorry, bad thoughts.

Anyways, thank you for welcoming me in your own way.

    Welcome to AD, Rose...

    *Huggles*

    BeaStKid

Thanks dear. It's nice to see you hear to. And you could have warned me about the fact that you put up a notice here about my flash stories to. *pouts at BK*

Welcome, Rose, nice to have you with us.

I'm quite new here too but it's a friendly place and like me I'm sure you'll quickly feel at home.

    Bruin

I already do. It's a nice site and I find what I've read so far very interesting. I'm going to enjoy wondering around this site.

  17. Welcome to the zoo, otherwise known as Awesomedude, Rose. There's quite an assortment of animals around here. One word of advice, don't leave your shoe's laying about. You might end up with a surprise in them, courtesy our resident raccoon.

There's also a goat lurking around here somewhere.

I promise I'll look after my shoes, or at least my flip flops. And theres a goat running around? Really? Wow...I seem to be running into goats all over the place.

Thanks for welcoming me. It's nice to be here, so far.

    Hi Rose!

    Welcome to the mad house.

It's a mad house here? I didn't notice... :icon6: Anyways, thank you for welcoming me.

    *waves*

    Hi Rose! Welcome in!
