Could you write a children's book?

Awesomedude authors write stories pointed at the young adult and adult market. The plots and points made in a story are for mature readers, but in many stories I see a whimsical side to the writing that might just work well in children's books. If any of you decide to write something like that it seems there is a market out there right now:
