colinian
If you like science fiction that's a mix of hard SF and horror and you like a story that's amazingly well written, I recommend Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey. George R. R. Martin blurbs it this way: "It's been too long since we've had a really kick-ass space opera." This is the first novel in "The Expanse," a five volume series of novels + two novellas + a short story. Leviathan Wakes is definitely worth reading. I got it on a Kindle $1.99 deal but it's $9.99 now. If you have Amazon Prime you can borrow it (like a library book) for free. This book is the basis for the first season of "The Expanse," a series premiering on Syfy in December 2015. It might come out as a deal again to promo the Syfy series, but because the publisher is Hachette I wouldn't count on it. I went on a short business trip and had this book on the Kindle app on my tablet and decided to read it. I found it to be one of those "I couldn't put it down" novels. Colin Quote Link to comment
Hoskins
I've read all but the short story, several times. It's a really well done series, and I can only hope it does well on syfy, except, you know, syfy. I really recommend it, too. Quote Link to comment
