I hate to toot my own horn, but I confess that in rereading Chapter 3 of Jake's Side in preparing it for Take 2 -- a decade after I wrote it -- that I was really pleased with the intensity of the writing, The chapter will appear on July 9.

Chapter 6 has been posted. It so much fun to see the skill involved in telling a story twice and making it just as fresh the second time it's told, and this time by a different person. Not only is it fresh, it's compelling. Great writing.

Thanks, everybody, for the kind comments. What is wonderful about writing fiction is to take a true hand incident (but time and place changed) and weave two tales that intersect at the end. In writing, I really enjoyed using two points of view in two interrelated tales.
