  1. Blue,

The sudden loss, of a family member or friend, is a devestating occurence, There's no way to prepare for sudden loss and it is just something each has to work through in their own way.

Gramps, Tim and I all send you our deepest condolences. A little private reflection time is important to preserve the memories.

  2. I fell behind on my reading what with finals coming up and a few projects of my own I've been working on. I just read chapters 17/19 and they were great! They made me realize what I was missing by not staying caaught up on my reading.

  3. Judges

    a short poem by Codey

Our path may be strewn with obstacles

as through this life we're trudging.

Many of these we erect ourselves

    when we, ourselves, are judging.

And tho by many we may be judged,

as our lives we're trying to get through,

    the only judgement that matters

    is the Supreme judicial review

  4. Warders, Plastic People and Recycling

    a poem by Codey

    Plastic people with plastic thoughts,

    awaiting new incarnations.

With baited breath and mouths agape,

    they welcome the latest innovations.

The newest must surely be better,

so in with the new and out with the old.

    They worship the latest creation,

recycled and squeezed from the mold.

There are those who, in pursuit of power,

    seek to become our warders.

They will say whatever we want to hear,

    to gain new plastic supporters,

who, in turn, to avoid having to think for themselves,

play a game of follow the leaders.

How can they pull themselves out of the mud

    if they're following bottom feeders?

Our warders see things in black or white,

    blinded to other colors.

Seeing only the good in their ideas,

and only the bad in others'.

But in this quest, are they forgetting,

that, at the end of the day,

there's no such thing as pure black or white,

there are only shades of gray?

Our warders may be polar opposites,

    advocates and adversaries,

and in their quest for personal power,

say and do what they feel is necessary.

They think their ideas and thoughts,

will solve the problems of all mankind.

No matter how twisted the solution

    or the problem so undefined

Are all the ideas they espouse,

    really totally new,

    or are they merely recycled

    emerging in a different hue?

Aren't they the same old problems,

    recycled in new variations?

And aren't they the same old answers,

    recycled in new combinations?

  5. I'm not all that sure about posting this one - it went in a direction I wasn't planning to go.  The words, though, they wanted to be said, and who am I to refuse them?

    .

Welcome to the world of poetry........it happens a lot that you start out with one idea and end up with a completely different idea. Words are wonderful but powerful and it pays to let them go where they want sometimes.

I like the way you write...the idea behind the poem is very clear and stated with the minimum of words. Keep at it Pete!!
