  1. California is 1/8th the US population. That was a huge domino to fall in the whole war of equal marriage. Most importantly it meant that now everyone in America was going to know a gay married couple because they had a college buddy or cousin in Cali.
  2. If you look at the picture Chase was allowed to use (which included earrings!), vs how Chase looked right before he took off his makeup, there's practically no difference. Who wants to guess which is before and which is after? Again, the makeup level was not even close to excessive. He wasn't dressed up like a goth kid or some Halloween witch. This was a violation of DMV's own policies which clearly don't apply in this case. Disguise, my ass. They made him take off his makeup as part of a homophobic freak out. Nothing else fits. I'm curious, but if some punk rocker with a green mohawk went in to have his license picture taken, what would they tell him I wonder? I see dyed mohawk guys driving cars all the time, so I know they probablyhave licenses...OK, well that's a lie. They drive vans.
  3. Don't forget to make your own doors...Nominate your faves, people! (I mean, it's not like *I* will nominate crybaby Ronaldo.)
  4. Looking at how he intended to appear, it seems that a woman can wear the equivalent amount of makeup in her photo, so that means he should be able to wear that amount as well. On top of that, what happens when he's pulled over all made-up and his photo looks plain? Then the cop has to figure out if it's really him? I bet if a woman showed up with a crew cut and no make up, they wouldn't talk about her trying to disguise herself for later, right? Bringing the whole idea of disguise into it, as the DMV did, is so completely ridiculous, since deceit is putting on scars or moles or colored contacts and other things that make you seem like a different person than you are in regular life. If a woman wearing that amount of make up isn't accused of trying to disguise herself why should a boy?
  5. Second nomination, Lionel Messi, Jersey number 10, Argentina:
  6. So the idea is that we'll vote at the end of the world cup for the hottest guy on the field. But, even if we don't get that far, we'll have a thread full of pictures of hot soccer dudes. The country with the winning guy gets a trophy. Feel free to nominate your own favorite World Cup guys, but make a good case for them by posting good photos (Up to 3 pictures per nominee) ---------------- Nomination Numero Uno: Mario Gotze, jersey number 19, Germany. Nomination 2 coming soon
  7. I came across this list gay interest offerings on netflix this month. Sadly, I don't get netflix in my locale, but hopefully you more-fortunate guys can fill me in on what's worth pursuing... http://www.phillymag.com/g-philly/2014/06/17/16-best-new-gay-movies-netflix-streaming/
  8. Attention Awesomedude forum, I was recently contacted by the attorneys of Mr. Tom Daley who became aware of out thread. They said that Mr. Daley finds our discussion of him inappropriate, prurient, perverted and immature. In light of this, Mr. Daley has forwarded the following personal message:
  9. The key to remember is that this mostly wasn't an author lawsuit. The group in the google case for instance had no way of funneling royalties back to actual authors and was going to claim the money for themselves though they had no great standing to be the 'official' representation of all authors.
  10. OK, so can we maybe do a new e-book collection to sell so we can donate the proceeds to the laser eye surgery Lugnutz clearly needs? :-)
  11. ..and Tom Daley almost certainly doesn't look like Beiber. I call a vote on the issue! What do you guys think?
  12. There almost certainly are people with centimeter fetishes. I remember when yahoo groups was a thing, there was one for 'pictures of guys with small equipment'.I'd hang out there because there'd be some cute, fit guy pics, but there really were some centimeter-looking organs.
  13. These teeth seem fine: - - - = = = = And this pear looks delicious:
  14. I never heard of this guy or the Order, but it's hilarious and subversive on several levels to me.
  15. The worst reaction to that was that idiot Bill O'Reilly accusing the kid of not really being kidnapped and basically running away from home so he wouldn't have to do homework. If you have a strong stomach, sample it here:
  16. Catholic school district tries to tighten restrictions on teachers who support gay 'lifestyles'. One mother gets caught in the middle: http://edition.cnn.com/2014/05/30/living/catholic-teachers-morality/index.html?hpt=hp_t3
  17. The voodoo and pagan practitioners don't tolerate buttsex, so that's OK.
  18. You're outraged because the man who murdered two boys you admired is getting a shitty funeral? Why?
  19. From CNN, a look at how conservative 'old guy' CEO's have been forced to really deal with LGBT issues after their sons came out. http://money.cnn.com/2014/05/19/pf/ceos-gay-sons/index.html?hpt=hp_t3 For me, this reinforces something I've always said, which is that progress on gay rights comes from personal experience. Knowing a gay person has been proven to improve the outlook on gay rights a whole lot in surveys. And the positive feedback loop creates more and more personal relations with gays as the improving atmosphere leads to more people coming out. As Chris Rock said, 'Everybody got at least a gay cousin.' This article really shows why, despite all the hate still extant in the world, I continue to be optimistic about gay rights. (And about CEO's too.)
  20. Chris, Chris, Chris... Dude, go have a hot cocoa. Karl Rove's attack AND the chirping that followed on the news shows is just inconsequential fluff. This is the problem with us politically aware people sometimes: We follow news. We care about human and current events, but we start to lose sight of the big picture over the drama of individual stories. Let;s draw back and ask 2 simple questions. Is there any Hillary supporter, who is familiar with her politics/personality/agenda who will hear the accusation of 'old' and change their mind based on that? Is there anyone who will say, 'Hillary is too old!' who wasn't already planning to vote against her in any case? The answer is no in each case. Rove moved public opinion exactly 0 points, but got some free advertising for his political consulting firm. i.e. liberal outrage at Rove makes money for him.. But to get back on point, the election is 2 years away, so CNN et al need to make this sound like a controversy to pull ratings and a sense of urgency. Don't play their game. In the last decade I've followed a rule that has calmed my blood pressure a whole lot compared to before: I don't pay attention or discuss 'election' coverage and 'horse race' talk until six months before the actual election. Everything before that (and hindsight has proven me right!) ends up not making a difference. The only reason I'm discussing this now is because I'm commenting on the media aspect, not the political aspect of it. We talk about how modern politics is a polarized culture, but we have to realize we feed that beast when we take it seriously all the time like every little speech and hearing matters.
  21. http://www.cracked.com/article_21129_5-shocking-ways-society-still-doesnt-understand-gay-people.html So, gay marriage is breaking out everywhere and we're on the road to acceptance. But it seems some problems we still face really are just ridiculous in how outdated they seem: http://www.cracked.com/article_21129_5-shocking-ways-society-still-doesnt-understand-gay-people.html I found #2 to be my biggest issue. (Being put in a box) I'm economically conservative, love guns, love sports, sometimes feel more bisexual than truly gay, I'm not interested in cross-dressing etc etc. and that often makes me feel like a minority inside a minority. The idea that I (1) Have to keep coming out to new people IS nerve wracking, but then there's (2)the whole issue of having to be at odds with people in the queer community, like the gay activists who look at me like I'm scum because I say I don't want to put up flyers for their campaign etc. Everybody has a way they seem to think people should be regarding the queer experience and suddenly you have to juggle all these factors that straight folks don't ever need to touch like telling the boss you're gay or getting called a self-hater because you say that Adam Lambert's not a good singer.
  22. Another episode in 'Encounters with southern Christians'. http://notalwaysright.com/just-a-cast-the-first-stones-throw-away-from-a-true-christian/37014
  23. Quick appeals are a PR tactic since the order comes with no stay, just as with the recent Arkansas case. That mean weddings will be going on and marriages will be getting established before the appeal. If they somehow get a reversal later, they'll be in the position of BREAKING UP marriages in a very public way and the middle of the road in America has an intrinsic affinity for fairness that will get queasy at that even if their religious views disagree with gay marriage.
