  1. I am sorry... I wasn't understanding the problem... when we made changes in our default email addresses... the forums email address... from which notifications are sent... was deleted as it was getting lots of flack in German. It has been restored with a new default address but should work.

    Thanks Blue

    TPTB or TBPD

  2. That sums it up in a few words, Codey... but true. I happen to know that this story isn't just plucked out of thin air... or water.

Look up some of the background on the Coast Guard cutter, USCGC Walnut... Pearl Harbor and some of the reputed denizens of that place and you'll find there is a lot more to this story than you might think. It is a real gem.

  3. See what happens when you are promoted from New Writers Series to Story Editor...

Everybody expects the best from Tragic Rabbit ... a kind of given. Unfortunately, unlike Stephen King... TR does not push his wheelbarrow to the bank each Friday. At least not with earnings from AwesomeDude.

I notice that we also have a couple of other gems on our home page... David MacMillan's Flight At Peenemunde and Rick's The Castaways. Both have also gone without comment in the AwesomeDude Forums. I made the case for David -who is an accomplished author in the genere- joining AwesomeDude.com not for the quantity of readers but fo their quality and for their willingness to give helpful and constructive feedback. Same is true for Rick's neat little Robinson Crusoe saga. Rick joined up for the full benefits of the New Writers Series which means his own story thread and all the comments he could endure...

Now that we're mentioning it... Sequoyah has just wrapped up his second major novel, Mountain Magic and I know he has hundreds of readers but still no comment.

Weird... I know that we had 12,961 UNIQUE visitors in April with 641,548 total hits. I know also that only a fraction of those visitors actually bother to register and even fewer to post.

    Go figure...

  4. Definitely go for it DJ.

Too much of who we are is bottled up inside and not expressed... and if you learn to let it out at a early age, the better you will be able to relate to the rest of your life.

    Good job!

  5. Thanks for your kind words, Rad. And I am so happy to hear from you again... post-tsunami. It is good to know that you are alright.

As Codey pointed out... you can read Perry and Jesse by connecting to it's link on the Best of Nifty page available here.

Thanks again and I hope you'll stay with us for a long time.

  6. Just for the record. I have deleted the topic which escalated into an unfortunate exchange.

I took a page from Codey's poem about the angry words remaining after the anger is long gone.

Who will use words to injure and hurt

    thinking they're proving a point,

forgetting that after the anger is gone

    the words will still remain?

There was no censorship here as the thread persisted for several days... and you have all had a chance to read it... just a bit of spring housecleaning. And the notice on the front page will suffice to explain why we no longer carry Dave's stories.

    Wish it were otherwise... but

  7. Codey has just put his finger on the pulse of the 'net.

He has been mostly quiet since coming back from the hospital this time, but he has been watching and reading...

In the meantime, those of us embroiled in the heat and emotions of what has played out here recently feel tired and spent but are probably no wiser.

Sometimes, I think I'd like to go back to just watching and reading...

Thanks again, Codey, for your thought provoking words.

Maybe we will get it sometime soon.

  8. Elecivil wrote:  It doesn't work for me. For background, it shows up as pure white, which makes the text impossible to read and the links difficult to read. Plus, due to my 800x600 resolution, quite a bit runs off the screen.

I'm using Firefox 1.0.1, by the way.

This is disappointing :( I am not sure what I can do other than go back to a plain solid color front page. I was just trying out using my home studio/office as a visual background and really didn't intend for it to be permanent. But if what you are experiencing is widespread, I would have to give up using visuals on the site.

The site is definitely aimed at the standard 1024x768 resolution level. But I have no trouble viewing it here in 800x600 and just scrolling it a bit from side to side and top to bottom. And the text only pages (stories) display the same on 1024x768 or 800x600 browsers.

After ballyhooing the Firefox browser, I have since dumped it. Although it has enhanced security, compared to Internet Explorer, it just isn't up to snuff in displaying visuals and has the most obnoxious habit of underlining hyperlinks that I have gone to pains to remove and which Internet Explorer understands.

    :(

  9. Thanks AJ will try to check it out soon. We have two new folks in line to get into the New Writers Series program so online time is at a premium for me at least.

Of course, you are free to include a link with your suggestions... (hint... hint)

    :)

  10. rusticmonk86 Does this belong in Readers Rule?

In as much as it applies to stories and writers on this site, I think it does. It was all generated by the posting of The Eggman's farewell and explanation for his withdrawing from DeweyWriter, AwesomeDude, TheGlassOnion and the web in general. Where would you put it, under the Poets' Corner for "poetic justice?" :p
