CIRCLES

a poem by codey

there comes a new warmth, and life reappears

and gone from memory are yesterdays tears

no more grey skies to darken the mood

nature waves her arm and all is renewed

the sun standing tall, displays its guilt

as water starved plants begin to wilt

in the mid-day heat, the animals swelter

and retreat to the shade but find little shelter

the days shorten as summer grows old

the northwind is bringing the snow and the cold

the leaves on the trees all wither and brown

dislodged by the wind they carpet the ground

dark clouds streak the sky, like a large mourning band

and silence lays heavy across the land

animals cower, hearts filled with dread

the ground is frozen, all appears dead

then comes a new warmth, and life reappears

and gone from memory are yesterdays tears

no more grey skies to darken the mood

nature waves her arm and all is renewed
