  1. and which is odd is where I live in that is considered a Bible belt. No one is really even religious in this part of the state or heard much of an issue. but there was enough of them to pass that stupid law here wasn't for marriage more for after certain amount of years your basically considered married if you live with someone and get bennies. but it also screws over straight couples.

After following your link, Cole, I spotted the map thingy that explains the various states positions on gay marriage and civil union's.

I've heard a great deal about the Bible belt and wondered if all those states in the middle and south west of the country, with the exception of the two marked in grey, are the one's who make up the Bible belt.

If that is the case then it illustrates a glaring example of which portions of their Bible they actually read and follow. They seem to totally ignore Christ's teachings and go for the 2 to 5000 year old Old Testament. I wonder how many of them realize that it was originally written for the ancient Jewish community who populated the middle east of that time.

Christ is actually credited with saying something to this effect; "All that has gone before is past", and he then followed that with something akin to 'new beginnings' etc etc etc. Thats a little vague, I know, but I don't practice any kind of religion and the few pertinent facts I am aware of are from what little I've read purely for the interest of trying to understand the many outlandish views I read about.

A great many theologians actually believe that the Old Testament has no bearing from the death of Christ onwards so the teachings of Levicticus and his fellows are really just so much 'hog-wash'. That, of course, is only if you take any notice at all of the Christian scholars and a large number of Jewish scholars, too, for there is an eminent group of forward thinking Rabbi's who debate this as well.

I always thought that Christianity was actually named after Christ and, if that is so, it shows those Bible belt nuts to be the poor excuse for Christian's they actually are if they are ignoring the word of Christ himself.

The Old Testament, from what I can understand of it, is a book filled with predjudicial teachings, intolerance with an utter lack of humanity, and even hatred. That being so, and with the huge amount of people reading it daily, and believing it, then its no wonder you are seeing the predjudice you do. We have it in Britain but I don't think its as widespread amongst the community as it is in the US. We, as a nation, have the 'civil partnership' enshrined in law as well.

  2. It's at times like these that I'm glad I only drink Vitamin Water. :icon_tongue:

Haha, is english tea as bitter as say the ones you leave out in the sun? I drink some coffee and instant I agree isn't to good at all :P

At times fox news is good for a laugh. in all honestly I'll really just watch the bbc, or read online, to many stations mostly local news has a lot of fluff pieces.

  3. There was a march in dc and Speeches/rally Cynthia nixon spoke, Ms shepard, ((Matthew's mom), Dustin Lance Black, Lady Gaga, Lt Dan Choi.

Lt Dan Choi and nixon, judy sheppard are my favorite speeches. they all on youtube, dustin's and lady gaga's are good as well.

it goes from cynthia nixon introducing judy shepard, mostly it's judy's speech http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4JcXU-zLXw

    Cynthia Nixon's speech.

  4. Steve Hildebrand: Obama and the LGBT Community

The former director of the Obama election campaign and advisor to the President on LGTB issues talks about Bans on Marriage, Don't Ask, Don't Tell: Has Congress Reversed Gay Rights?

A hard look at whether liberties are being rolled back on the basis of orientation.

At last someone states that the administration needs to see pressure and support from the masses, for reforms to be instigated and implemented, otherwise those who stand against reforms will appear to be the majority.

im not convinced Obama will even try to over turn doma or even make other bills, he's been all talk. I would love to say he would be all for it, but his actions been show me not much. but again, congress needs to also get pressure on them.

  5. I had a few college roommates and this was never much of a problem. We both mutually agreed that it was good for each others morale to get laid and one or the other would go out for a while.

I made the mistake of screwing my first college roommate- a cute boy from Tupelo with a fondness for cheap beer. We got drunk and one thing led to another and well... I turned a perfectly good kid from Reverend Wildmon's church in Tupelo into an unrepentant ass slut. He got to where he was cranky and useless until I poked him.

It was fun for a while but he never forgave me for making him gay and making him want it. He never missed the chance to pester me to screw him either... and of course me being the soft touch that I am, I wouldn't turn him down since I gave him the itch.

He lives with a guy in Memphis now and made it clear that he'll cheat anytime I'm ready. Perfectly scandalous.:ohmy:

Another room mate I had was a stoner kid that went to Catholic School in New Orleans. What a head case... first its screw me harder and then twenty minutes later let's pray together. I think he's a priest now. I would have kicked him out if he wasn't hung like a main battle tank. It would have never worked with that one. Fifteen minutes of fun wasn't worth all the hail marys and bible study. Sometimes great sex isn't worth cRazy

At the time I was going with Jeff and he would come up for weekends and I'd share. :w00t:

I was quite the slut at 18... and always wasted. :icon_twisted: I just wish I could remember more and took pictures. :hehe:

    Hehe, catholic guilt ;)

  6. I think this furthers my view of the softly, softly, approach. If the issues are sought after in a more laid back and undemanding way then small but significant steps are made in what can only be the right direction. This step is a little more than significant and advances our female gay friends rights quite a long way. This, in the UK of course, where we've enjoyed a strong civil partnership law for several years now. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8225158.stm

    Rick

if you mean to ask nicely for marriage or say if we are allowed so marry, here in the states will work, i strongly disagree. Massachusetts has gay marriage, btw marriage wasn't always about religion that was added later, People do not feel as equal just for a civil union. And other benefits do not equal with cilvil unions.

I also sent you a pm.

  7. Have you upgraded to Safari 4? Reviews say it's faster than any other browser (including the latest incarnation of Chrome) and my experience is that it is very fast.

    Colin :icon1:

I mostly use safari 4 on my mac, firefox was faster before though, then 4 came out and firefox is faster then what it was, safari also opens a bit faster, and I installed a extension pack called glims, gives you multiple search engines, saves tabs when you close etc.

I want to try chrome when it' comes to mac, it's being tested at the moment,

  8. I like both of your points, personally I don't want to get married for me just being with the person is good enough :) but I'd want to have the tax bennies or insurance for each other, common law marriage, but it's not regular marriage per say.

my uncle when he was with his bf, ymca covered his boyfriend.

As with the video, matthew shepard part got to me and part five of the couple that his union or employer wont' recognize him and cannot get his insurance for his partner

Love her or hate her, I think she did a good job (I personally like her) , a few things got to me, a couple who's partner is loosing his ability to walk and cannot get his parnets health insurance. and a kathy talks a bit about Matthew Shepard. Teens in this one is from a center in la, and is also transitional house like if they got kicked out, trouble with their parents or street kids. Must get a job or a back to school after 3 or so months.

They also go on a protesting march, were they meet the couple.

And how can you not love when Kathy's mom has a sign gay marriage I'll drink to that :)

  10. I've posted this elswhere in the AD Forums.

While YouTube is a bit squeamish about making this available, the Lily Allen song was adopted by a bunch of gay teens who produced the video which you can see HERE

I follow one of the guys who are in that video on youtube, and lilly allen saw (when she appeared on a french tv show) their video and a few other groups, and she said she she's honored.

original youtube video that was posted up and gives a description why they made it.
  11. Manifested Glory Ministries, a church in Connecticut, has found itself the focus of controversy because, using YouTube, they allowed the outside world to see what goes on inside their church. The church put up a video of an extremely violent exorcism intended to drive "homosexual demons" from a teenage boy. The video goes on for almost twenty minutes with the boy thrashing around violently and even vomiting while he's held down and prayed over by the church ministers.

They took the video down after the story was widely published, but it's available in two parts here.

    Colin

I'd say abuse, but could the law do anything about it, it seems whenever it's a church the law stays out of it.
