This piece really touched me.  It is a great example of a short-form piece where no words go to waste.  And I think that readers of all ages can relate to the characters (both alive and dead) in the story.

Thanks, Rutabaga.  I think there are few discoveries as bittersweet as learning that your father or mother had an intense, deeply felt life before you came along – that, once uncovered, puts what you know about that parent into a new perspective.
