I could not find an earlier thread for this story.  When I pointed out a technical issue with the original posting to @Alien Son, he actually went through and refurbished the whole story, correcting typos and converting it to the "modern" AD look.  The old link no longer works but it probably doesn't exist anywhere any more.  

Anyway, it's a very cool fantasy that will gladden your heart.  Give it a look.
