Very sobering. I seem to recall we had an African-American member here who got upset when I mentioned that black votes were part of the reason why the measure passed, which I think he took as a racial slur (and was completely unintended). The Times article omits that Catholic Hispanic families were also for the measure, and even took to the streets to demonstrate for it.

There's still a large battle looming ahead. I hope this time, maybe gay promoters -- and those who are pro-Gay marriage -- will fare much better.

Or perhaps, and it's certainly wishful thinking, the anti-gay-marriage side will be more honest and not resort of untrue scare tactics to win their side's cause. After all, aren't they the ones who call us immoral?

And don't forget the Mormons. They're the ones that funded a lot of the pro-Prop 8 campaign in California -- despite the fact that they're based out of Utah.
