Rutabaga
Found here. I've just started reading this (just finished Chapter 1) but I'm hooked. I love the description of Mr. Davidson's Great Dane, Clancy. When I was 10 or 11, I had a paper route for the morning paper. One of the houses I delivered to had not one but three Great Danes inside. I was terrified of them. If I made any significant noise outside putting the paper on the front porch, I would hear ominous barking from the inside of the house. So I developed stealth techniques to get the paper placed on the porch without triggering the evil chorus inside. Later, of course, I came to discover that Great Danes are just big gentle pussycats, kind of like my Yellow Lab. They love attention, and love to be with their people (that is, anyone who is handy). A friend of mine had two of them -- one that was something like 175 pounds and quite tall, and the other, smaller, who had lost one of his legs and was named "Tripod." In this same time frame I had a Doberman Pinscher who was the sweetest dog imaginable, and was very patient with kids climbing all over her. Anyway, I look forward to continuing this story. Rutabaga
Finished. No spoilers -- let's just say the story lives up to its title. R Link to comment
Mattyboy
This story and Mr Davidson has a lot of Tim Walz energy to it. I liked the story a lot anyhow, but impressed today with how Cole Parker caught the wave with this Link to comment
