Mama's A Rick Beck Story

Recommended Posts

Always delighted to read a Rick Beck story. As a sequel to Careful Picking Friends, Rick has given us more of Mama's wit and countrified wisdom. Mama's is an inside look at southern ways of living and tending to the poor.

I'm sure we all have an image of a soup kitchen ala the Great Depression, but this more real than a plate of turnip greens. The veracity of Rick's characters stand out from the page and involve us in their lives.

A story of here and now that recalls the trials of the past in the relations of black and white. Well done, a must read.
