Interesting. It gave me a sense of wonder that we humans are part of something so huge, and tiny though we are, we're conscious of as much of it as we are..

Carl Sagan, one of the true geniuses of our time. So right, so scary, so real in his view of our place in the universe. He never said we are alone, just that the possibility of another form of life out there is so small because of the requirements. If mankind destroys itself through wars and pollution, then perhaps the next batch of bacteria that climbs out of the slime will start advanced life over again.
