This has been making its way around for years. I think The Alienist, aka David in Hong Kong, wrote an incompletes story based on it called Holding on for Dear Life.

I must admit I read the article and thought I'd read it several times before. Bits have undoubtedly happened but as a whole - it's a work of fiction I think. As per the links given by others.

Nice story, and the issue of teen suicide does need emphasis but factual? Nah!
