  3. Great post Trab!!! The article was very interesting but, then the comments just kept going. Really a good read -- CNN should do a follow up -- well wishful thinking -- I know.
  4. More from "Proceed at your own risk" http://rjr10036.typepad.com/proceed_at_your_own_risk SOUTHERN BAPTIST LEADER DECLARES WAR ON LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS Crusader The president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky has declared war on "liberty and the pursuit of happiness." He seems to be OK with "Life." In fact, he's calling for an American crusade in defense of marriage that will go far beyond homosexuals. "Americans bought into a lifestyle and world view of personal autonomy and individual self-fulfillment. If the isolated self is the most important unit of meaning, marriage is seen as an accessory at best, and as feminist Betty Friedan's "domestic captivity" at worst." he tells THE CHRISTIAN POST. Still flush with victories in the war against gay marriage, this Southern Baptist leader reminds us that the literal word of the Bible goes far beyond the abomination of man on man sex. With so many Christian victories on so many fronts and with the full support of the Woman_1 President and many members of Congress and the courts, this Southern Baptist leader no longer sees the need to pussyfoot around the literal word of God. It's not just about abominations like homosexuals, it's also about arrogant women, unwed mothers, people who live in sin and the fallen in general. It's time, he implies, that we look behind the threat of homosexuality as we consider laws designed to defend marriage and Christian values. If we are truly to defend marriage, we must focus our attention on reversing feminism, criminalizing co-habitation and pre-marital sex, banning divorce and defeating the notion that marriage is about relationships when in fact it is about procreation and parenting. In the immortal words of Katherine Harris, "If you?re not electing Christians then in essence you are going to legislate sin." It's easy to poke fun at good old Kate, but let us not forget that is she far from alone in her crusade to return America to the pre-Constitution days of 17th Century Puritan New England. 5. I agree with VWL. Second Wind is a well written store which I really enjoyed reading. Was sorry when it ended.
  6. Earlier today I made a post to Laughs and Limericks http://www.awesomedude.com/adboard/index.php?howtopic=1734 I mentioned two blogs I follow. One being "proceed at your own risk": http://rjr10036.typepad.com/proceed_at_your_own_risk/ One the the owners "essays" today was the following about our "Christian Right" leaders: Thursday, 31 August 2006 CHRISTIAN GROUP CLAIMS NATION'S TOP PSYCHOLOGIST ENDORSES EX-GAY THERAPY The Christian fundamentalist news service, LifeSite has just issued a press releaseHealinghom_2 claiming that the current president of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Gerald P. Koocher, broke with the APA'a long-held stance against ex-gay "therapy", saying that the APA would now support so-called psychological therapy for those experiencing "unwanted homosexual attractions." According to the LifeSite press release: "Speaking with National Association for the Therapy and Treatment of Homosexuality President Joseph Nicolosi at the APA?s annual convention in New Orleans, Dr. Koocher stated, ?APA has no conflict with psychologists who help those distressed by unwanted homosexual attraction.? Dr. Koocher emphasized that so long as patient autonomy and choice were respected, the APA?s Code of Ethics would certainly encompass psychological treatment of those who wish to be free of homosexual attraction." Obviously, this claim is completely contrary to official statements out of the APA which have clearly stated that "the scientific validity of reparative therapy for homosexuals is unfounded and insupportable." ?The APA?s concern about the positions espoused by NARTH and so-called conversion therapy is that they are not supported by the science,? APA Public Affairs Manager Pamela Willenz recently stated. ?There is simply no sufficiently scientifically sound evidence that sexual orientation can be changed.? Clinton Anderson, director of the APA Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Concerns Office, added that there is ?no evidence? that reparative therapies work, and said ?they may in fact cause harm for many people.? Of course, neither Christians nor ex-gay advocates lie. After all Jesus would escort them straight to hell for doing so. So I contacted Dr. Koocher's office to discuss his alleged betrayal of his profession and association. And it would appear, shock of shocks, that the good people of NARTH are lying and once again trying to hoodwink the press and vulnerable and confused gay men and women. Dr. Koocher stands by the APA policy statement that his office release earlier this month detailing what he actually said during a Town Hall meeting (and not in direct conversation with anyone from NARTH) in response to a question from the floor. The emphasis in the following statement as represented by "BUT" and "MUST" is his own, not mine. "In a full multifaceted therapeutic relationship, the therapist has every duty to respond to patient choice and to help patients achieve their goals. I affirmed during the Town Hall discussion, and I will always affirm, the crucial importance of providing our services with careful attention to patient's wishes. BUT--and this is absolutely essential, especially when dealing with sexual orientation--the therapeutic responsibility, in strict accordance with APA guidelines, MUST also include the following considerations: One: The therapist has an obligation to carefully explore how patients arrive at the choice they want to make. Therapists must determine whether patients understand that their motives may arise purely from the social pressures of a homophobic environment. No type or amount of individual therapy will modify prejudices. Two; Informed consent: Patients must understand the potential consequences of any treatment, including those intended to modify sexual orientation. Patients must understand that such treatments lack a validated scientific foundation and may prove psychologically harmful. Finally, I would add that our patients ought to know from the very start that we as their therapists do not consider homosexuality a mental disorder. The American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders in 1973. In 1975, the American Psychological Association publicly supported this move, stating that "homosexuality per se implies no impairment in judgment, reliability or general social and vocational capabilities...(and mental health professionals should) take the lead in removing the stigma of mental illness long associated with homosexual orientation." In a nutshell, LifeSite and NARTH have once again brazenly lied and done deliberate harm to the cause of mental health and civil rights in this nation. Occasionally I wonder if there is legal ground from which to mount some kind of class action lawsuit against these abominations that would result in financial reparations for all of us without our community who have been done terrible harm Cigarettesurgeon by the dishonest, immoral and unethical actions. Surely, they are no less guilty of doing harm than the tobacco industry. At the very least some kind of "cigarettes-like" disclaimer should be tattooed on each and every one of their foreheads. WARNING: FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIANS AND EX-GAY THERAPISTS MAY BE HARMFUL TO YOUR HEALTH AND LEAD TO CHRONIC DEPRESSION, SELF-DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR AND ULTIMATELY SUICIDE. 7. Thanks DesDownunder---- Looking at the world today I really see none of the three, Peace, love or happiness, existing any more. Instead we are seeing "Red Alerts" - terrorists threats - hurricanes doing extensive damage that the Government can't deal with - a government SO enamored with the "Christian Right Wing", and it's teachings, that the roots of our Constitution are in jeopardy - stem cell research not being funded which could be of great help to the illnesses know today including HIV, Aids and so many others. All in the name of God. All in the name of Jesus. All in the name of the Bible and the "Christian Right!! What has happened to "Jesus loves me, this I know" which any number of us learned in "Sunday School" years ago? Seems to me that would include the Gay population of the world too! God help us! For we so need your help today. We are at the very edge of an evil world.
  8. I'm thinking the the number of pro-Bush people is really small worldwide and growing smaller every day. It is really sad. During my 69 years on earth I don't remember any president doing as much damage to the USA and/or the world. I am sooo glad that I didn't vote for him!!! (I did vote) I can only hope that in the 2008 election people take a good look at what is happening to this country and vote wisely. I follow a number of Blogs daily - one is http://rjr10036.typepad.com/proceed_at_your_own_risk/ the second is http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/index.php -- both give some interesting commentary on world events. Neither are pro-Bush!!!! My 2 cents worth
  9. Great job on Collision guys!!!!! Over the past few years I have gotten into the habit of NEVER reading a story until it is finished -- no exceptions!! I have had to reread too many stories to regroup myself. In addition I don't read the forum topics either. I need to keep everything fresh in my poor old mind. Collision has been on my "read list" for some time now and finished reading the story last night. I really enjoyed the story and thought the continuity between chapters was great. No "where did that come from" questions popped up while reading the story. The last chapter was allot to handle after the slower pace of all the proceeding chapters but still worked really well as the "bring together" final chapter. It was a VERY enjoyable read. Everybody did a GREAT job and I thank you for the story. As I mentioned above, I don't read the forum topics about the story either. Today I read this thread and am amazed at all the "behind the scene" activity. A lot of hard work has gone into Collision!! Thanks guys for all of your efforts! I really enjoyed the story!!!
  10. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the new look Dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I totally agree with Codey!!! I am only a "reader" and am rather fussy about what I read but, I definetly like what you have done with it so far. =D> Can't wait for the rest!!
  12. Josh's stories are all first rate - most are published or in the works. One there has been talk of a screen play. On the story page, start at the top and work down as the stories are interrelated'
  13. =D> =D> =D> :D/ :D/ :D/ Thank You SO MUCH Dude for bringing the Forums back - it really is a GREAT place!!!!!
  14. I agree!!!! I hit the forums daily and will miss them so much. I am hoping that another solution might be found. I am also willing to help where I can.
  15. We should not forget Gay Authors Archive of stories. Sorts on 6 or 8 sort methods such as rating, author, title and such. Number of stories in the archive are just under 300 and tend to be the better stories. Give it a try at [/size]' target='_blank'>http://www.gayauthors.org/archive/archive....size=18]
  16. I hate it when people do that -- What is WBMS's ADIP ??????????
