I don?t know what I did that needs forgiven
But for that ease I gladly take the blame
I don?t know what it is I?ve been missing
But when it comes calling will I take the reins
I don?t know if life?s really worth living
But maybe your hearts won?t be the same
I don?t know how to deal with these feelings
But I can?t bare your look of shame
I don?t know if tomorrow things will be clearer
But I know that fog is a prelude to rain
I Don?t want to be the prodigal son to forsake
But to heal I must share this pain
I know I?ll learn how to stand proud
But I must learn just what I need to say
I know I must expiate this sense of guilt
So dear world, I?m Gay
My Friend
You can drop the sword cause
Its pride that?s cutting me
I continue to bleed through
Why can?t I say ?I?m worried?
Sent you away again
My only reasonable friend
As I eat the feelings up
Sit and Ponder why this won?t end
You will be the one to kill me
But your so kind
Its only when you seize me
That I feel Truly divine
Its when I begin descending
I know I?m closer to my ending
But I love it when your near
For that brief second things seem clear
I swore I didn?t need you
Content to dry out in the rain
Still you burn in and
Lift me up and numb this wicked pain
I try to combat against this
Yet your still so friendly
No matter how I try to push you away
Your just right there to mend me
You will be the one to kill me
But your so kind
Its only when you seize me
That I feel Truly divine
Its when I begin descending
I know I?m closer to an ending
But I love it when your near
For that brief second things seem clear
But your only here because your easy
I don?t really need you
I swear I?ll be leaving soon
Even if your not convinced
I swear I won?t be around much longer
I?m gone after we take one more trip
Your just a cheap whore
yet, somehow drag me back for more

I'd like to do the next story in the series...but not sure where to go with it. Was considering Will's dog as a pov, but my dog charges exorbitant fees for interpretation--ungrateful cur!
Then i considered making Aaron a schizophrenic and telling the tale from the pov of one of his delusions, sort of a stream of consciousness thing, ala James Joyce in "Finnegan's Wake," but then i'd have to provide a commentary for it to be understood, and that didn't seem like much fun.
I've just about settled on a hard sci-fi thing, told from the pov of the alien sociologists who have been observing the whole thing, but that's a little derivative, don't you think? Anyway...i'll keep working on it.
cheers!

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

Metallica rocks (literally) but some of their post black-album stuff is awesome. How can you categorically dismiss it. TP is great but I like his older stuff better than his newer stuff, though DJ kicked ass. Damn the Torpedos! Elton is great, Floyd is sublime, and Zeppelin may be great but they are the single most overrated group in history: their legend far surpasses the overall quality of their oeuvre. As for Mettallica its not that I don't like there newer stuff(although St Anger sucked) I just look at it as two different bands. Pre-Black album was speed metel at its best(injustice for all is one of the best albums ever IMHP) and Load and Re-load to me fits more with the alternative style then metel. It does not mean its bad, just not as good as there old stuff. I still have all their albums, and "the bleeding of me" is one of my favorite songs. I also agree about Petty is older stuff is a lot better.
i'm all for tool, radiohead, (no sumblime), deftones, weezer, nirvana, alice in chains (i touched jerry cantrell's nipple!!), hehe i even know and like icp, and pantera and pre-follow the leader korn.as far as more obscure bands go, i love op ivy, kula shaker, thin lizard dawn, superdrag, failure, the list goes on.
.
LMAO! Cantrell was imo the hottest of the grunge guys, that may not be saying a lot, but anyway.(Ok Cobain has a look also). Also agree 100% about Korn. Korn and Life as Peachy were great albums, and I don't buy much into bands selling out and junk like that, but if there was ever a band that sold its soul to MTV it was korn. After all they were the same band that said when MTV refused to play A.D.I.D.A.S, that they didn't care or would they ever want to be on MTV. But my brother said the best shows hes seen have been Korn, Sevendust and Manson.

I am all over the map with my tastes, but listen to mostly harder rock. Really the only things I can't listen too are country and Rap.
My favorite bands would be Tool(favorite by far, strong lyrics, powerful and unique music), Alice in Chains, A Perfect Circle, Radiohead, Weezer, Sublime, Metallica(pre-black album). Been listening to a lot of Muse and Pantera of late
But I also listen to a lot of olde.......ummm I mean classic stuff  like Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Elton, and so many others. The first concert I ever saw was the Beachboys and Chicago when I was 9 and I still listen to both off and on, my next concert at 15 was ICP, if you don?t know who they are, you may not want to know . I love music.

Well you guys were right. I finally called him and we talked and he wasnt even phased. I guess I was just being paranoid. We went out to a movie this evening and were all snuggly in the back row, it was cool. And then on the way home he did something while I was driving that almost made me crash, and that Ive only read about in Penthouse forum! lol so I guess it was all in my head.
Thanks for the advice!
LOL! Great news, and good luck ;-)

Maybe underthehoodster or someone else knows other examples of unusual instrument techniques, like using a bow on a guitar.
...Extra points if you know what a dulcimer or hammer-dulcimer is...
Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead uses a paintbrush on "Anyone can play Guitar" the Pablo Honey album

H'lo, Thirdeye. Pretty good. Nice that you write songs and poetry for friends. If you have music composed to go with that, why not ask a friend who plays guitar, keyboards, whatever, to play? Bound to be one of your friends who can sing. If they'd be OK with the meaning behind the lyrics, why not ask them? Just an idea.
My friend use to write the music. Plus I'm not very good. Just above Boyband qualty :-({|= :

As I posted before I read AWMS three times. Its a great story with relly good characters

I don't know what to say bro, except hopefully he was just nervous afterwards and didn't know what to do or say. Were friends or dating before last night?
-
Hi Thirdeye... so you write songs. That means you probably sing too. If you have a guitar and can make us a recording we'd be glad to post the file as an audio file to share with your friends here at AwesomeDude.
Or you can recite it as a poem and send the file to us and we'd be glad to post it along with your song/poem on the Poets' Corner page.
Actually I can't carry a tune :D No one on either side of my family can. I use to write songs for my friends band in JH and have just done it ever since, just my way to blow of steam.

This is a song I wrote a few months ago, its not very good, but I feel like sharing
This hurt you can not bare
I watch you standing there
Looking so broke and fragile
Completely unaware
Of just how permanently your rattled
so cold and so scared
Your deservedly saddled
With the pain you wear
Lately,
you?ve been Falling,
Down into the your highest low
common Sense has changed you
And now you drag in tow
The martyrs golden chain
Your broken Halo
You told us all you were saved
Told us all just how to pray
Always so domineering
Said you would lead the way
To our souls clearing
Fed the way with hate
Feign endearing
The sheep still wait
Lately,
you?ve been tumbling
Down into depths unknown
Common sense has changed you
Now you search the row
For that which was never yours
Your stolen Halo
Forced out by those you deceived
You lay now in your eternal defeat
Once claim to be an angel
Your horns deceived even me
But now in the sins you?ve become entangle
Your soul can not be retrieved
By open-mindedness your strangled
Our dreams have been set free
Lately,
you?ve been crashing
Down into the depths so low
common Sense has changed you
And now you drag in tow
The martyrs golden chain
Your broken Halo
Now you search the row
For that which was never yours
The martyrs golden chain
Your stolen Halo

Really its not that its different, it just some people don't see it as normal. Of course these are the same people who think Black skin people are below whites, as are Jews, Mexicans, or anything or anyone that does not fit into the "Normal" section. The sad thing is it seems all the steps and progress the human race seem to make in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's seems to be at a stand still, if not going backwards. There?s no way anyone can say at least in the United States that we are very progressive in tolerance of difference. Chris Rock touched on some of this in his last special. Since 9-11 the accepted racism in this country has gone through the roof, 1st it was F' the foreigners and that was alright, then it was F' the French and that was alright, then it was F' the Arabs and that was alright, now its F the Fags, and people better open their eyes because soon its going to be F the niggers and Jews, and any other non-god fearing white male that?s living in sin, its always has been in the past, and history repeats itself. Its really getting to be a mess out there, the hypocrites are out in full force trying to make peoples lives a living hell. Anyone whose read my profile knows I live in Florida and knows about our Hurricane problems this year. Well where I live we get a direct hit by Charlie and had tons of damage, I actually heard someone tonight say that was gods way of punishing the queers and others that don?t believe in Christ, and people agreed with him. These are the types of thinkers we are dealing with. The backwoods inbred, banjo playing jerks, and the scary thing these are the ?normal? people who are voting on our future, and a few of them may be the leaders getting votes. Sorry to go off on a tangent, I've just had a very crappy week and really hate people right now.
-
I think you're right Ben. People can see the differences in race and even in some ethnicities. What you can see you can understand a little more. Our differences are on the inside and can't be seen. I think the hatred is based on the fear of the unknown. People can see black skin but they can't even imagine why we are like we are. What they can't see, they fear. What they fear, they grow to hate.
I agree, and very well put. The only thing I can add is people tend to look down or avoid things different then themselves . We live in a socity where our differences are picked apart and people are labeled and put into groups based on money, looks, they way you think, feel. We let are our differences drive us apart, instead of bringing us together as it should. We look at the differences in people, instead of looking for the bond we all share. When that difference is something like a feeling or a instinct that other people don?t feel they just can?t see why we won?t or can?t turn it off. They don?t understand and in a lot of cases they don?t want to understand. Its easier to hate than to try accepted that someone is different.

Another great selection of thought-provoking posts. Thanks, everyone!
There are a few things I want to pick up.
The first is one that Aaron mentioned. When he first realised he's gay, he started acting effeminate because that's what he thought gays did. He's since learnt otherwise, but I'm sure he's not the only one who has thought that. The issue of promiscuity is another one of those stereotypes that needs to be addressed. We have been talking about role models. As part of that, we need to find ways to educate young gays that this is a stereotype and does not necessarily mean that is what you should be. My question was along those lines. There is no doubt in my mind that the homosexual "community" has a high degree of promiscuity. I'll leave the debate of whether or not this is a good thing to one side and I would just like to state that this does not mean that this is part of what it means to be gay
Graeme
My big problem is the way they try to make it out to be just a "gay" problem. Like affairs or cheating in straight relationships are so rare. I am sure we all know guys that every week end are out there trying to pick up some a new chick. If anything I think this is a problem in society in general then just with the gay community, Gays just get it stuck to them. After all we all at fault for the decline of family values and the failure of the family structure, never mind that no group has less divorces in America than gays
-
I'll agree somewhat, but really I believe the type of role models we need not only come from the gay community but really the straight community. If we had more people in the world teaching tolerance and respect things would be a lot better. Instead we TV shows where Gays are the butt of jokes, Church leaders preaching hate and many Teachers just letting things slide.
