The most vocal opposition came from the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl has warned that legalizing same-sex marriage would force the church's social services arm to scale back its efforts in the city.

How can the legalization of same sex marriage possible affect social services efforts UNLESS it is basically a threat or a "strike". The very utterance of that remark is repulsive, and indicates that there social services are anything but service at all.
