For some reason I thought there was already a thread for this story, but apparently not.   

It took me a while to get beyond the beginning paragraphs of this story (it was posted before Halloween) but I'm glad I finally did.  The enterprising Charlie seems to have an innate talent for connecting with the locals.  We should all be so gifted!
