Ambrosino's account of discovering Whitman is heady stuff for a Baptist youth:

'When I first placed my trembling palm upon his naked text, I felt ashamed; and yet I couldn’t pull away.'

I especially liked that his girlfriend's Baptist mother gave him the book. Perhaps other Baptist mothers could use Whitman to save themselves some grief down the road.
