Leviticus by Pertinax Carrus

Recommended Posts

There's a little talk by Pertinax Carrus presented as a short story over on Codey's World, Leviticus. This story tells what's wrong with being selective about what's in Leviticus, the Third Book in the Old Testament of the Bible. I don't think I've read a better exposition on this topic anywhere. It's something every gay kid should read and use to refute those who selectively pick sections of Leviticus to damn gay boys, girls, men, and women.

There are two biblical quotes that nail vertually everyone about the wearing of mixed fibres, Leviticus 19:19 and Deuteronomy 22:11

So irrespective of what you are defending, be it gayness or shellfish eating (also banned!), you just need to research and quote the above, along with John 8 - 7 from the new testament, 'let he who is without sin' etc. Except of course, the true bigot will accept the bits that make their point and happily chose to ignore the rest.

Nonetheless, it's a very useful piece and should prove useful as something to show the parents of young adults who are probably the target audience of Codeys World

There is another definition for the word abomination as used in Leviticus.

As it is used in the King James version, the word abomination has a lot of power and names something vile.

In the original Greek it isn't nearly as powerful and meant- is not our custom.

When the bible was translated to English by the Court of King James, a legendary fop, the King was not that popular.

It is suggested that some of the so called whopper verses in the bible were put there by the translation team as a way of giving old James the finger.

The fist sex scandal in the early Christian church is wrtten up by the apostate Paul. He had a thing for a hawt Greek youth named Timothy and couldn't wait the have him circumcised and ritually clean so a nice Jewish boy could "know him".
