Fascinating stuff. You want to take some of these guys out to the woodshed and make sure they don't come out on two feet. You can picture them sitting together over drinks laughing about the lives they've destroyed. The senator's demise is especially touching.

This is an amazing story. Most young gays (I include myself in that group) know nothing about what it was like back in those days.

I remember the advertisement wording for the movie, Advise and Consent::

I read that book when I was young. Pretty vivid. Best seller. I probably saw the movie, too, but don't remember that. Books are usually more memorable than movies.

I'm too young to have ever read the book or to have seen the movie. The book wasn't on any of the book lists in my English classes in intermediate and high schools.
