NaNoWriMo, Yo.

It's begun! I'm ahead of my daily word goal, so I'm happy. I'm hoping to hit 10,000 by midnight, tonight. I know I won't be getting nearly as much writing done during the school/work week, so I'm sneaking my laptop into work on the weekends to write during down time.

If you'll direct your attention to the right of this post, you'll see that I've added a word-counter-ma-bob to the side of the blog. Feel free to berate and/or badger me if you don't see the number on that thing increase for a couple of days.

You can click here if you want to see my NaNo profile, story synopsis, or an excerpt (once I actually post an excerpt, that is).

The coolest thing about NaNo is the community. There's a fairly large number of us in the metro area, so we meet up at the local Barnes and Noble to talk books, writing, and geek culture. If you've never tried it, there's still time to get started - you're only a day or two behind. Just check out NaNoWriMo.org, and check the forum for your regional lounge to see if there are any meet-ups happening in your area.

In other news, remember that six hour long standardized test I mentioned a couple posts ago? I passed it. I've got another three hour long one coming up on the 15th. Big fun, no doubt.

Look at all the people and take note of the setting behind

Listen, watch, and wait

A plot begins to take shape..."

6,000 words already?? How? I'm struggling here, at 2,500 and my target for the end of today is 5,000, not 10,000!Great to know you're doing it, Ele. I wish I could meet up with other Nano'ers but I'm a bit isolated here. Say hello to everyone for me?BruinP.S. My Nano ID is Sinbad, by the way!

What a kick in the pants! I started my second book two weeks ago (Ben Blue's editing my first, and we all know how swamped he is right now) and am up to 2,800 words...just getting started. This is a great way to get me going. Thanks Ele for letting me know that this exists.I've got my story pretty much figured out, but it's so full of holes it looks like my boat's going to sink. I think I'll take the first couple of days to pin down my story and then increase my daily word count as we get closer to Nov 30.

YOU'RE SO FAR AHEAD OF ME. I'm at 6,840. Writing by hand and then typing it up. BUT. I'm going for 10,000 by the end of the day. Not that many NaNoWriMo'ers here, sadly. I didn't know you guys were doing it too! Huzzah. Happy writings.EDIT 1:41 PM : Updated to 10, 238. I think I'm done for the day.

w00t, another nanowrimo'er. I'm only at 3700 myself, but the day is young and I'm hoping to reach 7k today. Now if all those people that are going to quit would already... the site is so slow right now D:.Maddy (:
