  1. I realize now that I forgot to include something in my author's note on Ashes of Fate, and I figured I would put it out here for any of my readers to find, since I received an email that could have potentially been answered by this piece of information. Ashes of Fate links several of my short stories together. Most notable, "The Drawbacks of Being a Monster", "Oak Shadows", and "Is Love A MIracle." It is set in the future of these three stories, and characters from these appear in the support cast. Here is the link to my story page where you can read all of them if you would like. http://www.awesomedude.com/Cynus/ Thank you again for reading!
  2. In response to our relation on another forum, I took the time to go review some of Lugnutz work again. Upon reading this autobiographical piece, I couldn't help but come and comment. Lug, I want you to know that you are one of my favorite people here at AwesomeDude. You support everyone and have a heart of gold, and I am happy to share this space with you. I can relate to much of what you have gone through in life, and I'm glad you're still rolling the dice. I gamble well, and I normally know how to place my bets. I'm betting My. Right is out there for you, and I'm sure he's been rolling the dice hoping to see you come down the road. Good luck my brother. You'll get there.
  3. http://www.buzzfeed.com/louispeitzman/it-gets-better-unless-youre-fat?utm_term=o8k1fj#1nquh4a Thoughts? I can personally relate to this, being the "big boned" pansexual that I am, but I'm curious what you guys think.
  4. I'll only be using a few words, and it will be in the midst of a contentious situation where the two parties involved do not understand each other. I want to accentuate the fact that they don't.
  5. What about a glossary of terms at the end so that they can go back and look it up if they care that much? Do you think that might cover the best part of both worlds?
  6. If you are using an uncommon foreign language(Such as Inuit) would it be better to use the words from that language in the dialogue or to provide the reader with the translation while simply saying that the characters don't understand it? I'm leaning toward authenticity and leaving the language intact, but I'm open to opinion on the matter. Speaking of which, anyone speak Inuit?
  7. I signed this about a week ago. For some reason I didn't share it. Thanks Camy!
  8. That could work, as it was kind of what I was defaulting to already... Well it's at the editor now so we'll see what happens. Hopefully the way I applied what the two of you have suggested will work well enough.
  9. That will almost work, though this character is constantly in the process of switching roles mid conversation, and he only gives a name once, which isn't his real one. I say he because he's male almost the entire time... Which actually might solve my problem, now that I think about it... I could switch his one female role(Which is very minor) to a male one, and it would work almost as well. Okay, related question. So this character shifts to being a different person. Do I start using his new name, or do I keep calling him, "the shape shifter"? I'm so confused as a writer that I can only imagine how my readers will be.
  10. How would you handle a character that can change its gender when you don't want to reveal that it is technically without gender? For instance, a character is playing one role at one point but plays a different role in the next, but the genders are different. How do you handle the pronouns? Do you refer to it as 'she' when it's female and 'he' when it's male? And when it is finally revealed to the audience that it's without gender do you start calling using the pronoun 'it', or do yo stick to the pronoun that comes with the role. Shape shifters are confusing...
  11. A Dad's open letter to the parents in the video. http://goodmenproject.com/families/dads-open-letter-homophobic-parents-caught-video-throwing-gay-son-away/
  12. No, from what I've learned this happened recently. Indeed. I'm sorry that either of us had to post it. I'd rather there weren't this level of pain in the world, though I suppose we wouldn't grow and learn without it.
  13. Warning: This will make you want to hurt people.

    Boyhood

I don't really know where else to put this. The movie is certainly not LGBT themed, but I almost think that it transcends that thought process in a way, almost as if it is essentially "human" themed, and therefore all encompassing. If you have not seen the film "Boyhood" I highly recommend it. It was a feat of endurance to produce this film which follows the life of a boy named Mason from the age of five to the age of eighteen. The film was made over a twelve year period, bringing the actors back again and again for additional filming so that they aged naturally throughout the film. I found stunning insights into the human condition while watching it, and I think I'll have to see it several more times in order to take it all in. The movie follows Mason as he lives with the reality of his divorced parents, and how their family pulls together as well as they can to survive. It was emotional and raw... I'm sure I could keep going on forever, but I'll just have to implore you to see it for yourself. Here is the link to its IMDB page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1065073/
  15. Read it and loved it. My three years of French from way back in middle school came in handy. I was able to piece together a lot of the French from the few words I recognized before I got to the description of action, but some of the longer paragraphs were far more difficult for me to understand. It made me want to go back and study again.
  16. I have a piece coming in October. I'm excited to join the community.
  17. I think it's about time I responded to this. Thank you, Gwilym, for your words. I hope that my tardiness in responding hasn't tarnished your opinion of me. I hope that at least some of you have been putting up with the story so far, though this is not a cry for feedback. Instead this is me letting you, my readers, know that the story is about to take a turn. I hope you'll enjoy the next installment, which regrettably will not be posted until the sixth of September, but it will be the true beginning of the series now that the introduction is out of the way. I've been working really hard on the next installment, and I hope that you will enjoy it. Thanks again for reading. Cynus
  18. You can have my journal entries if you want. If I wrote it the story would come out to be too true for me I think. I don't know if I could handle that.
  19. I am loving this. I can't wait to see where it goes.
  20. I locked that up years ago. Not sure I have much more than omens to go off of.
  21. Oohh... an omen. Maybe I should... I'm pretty bad at following omens in life, but maybe it's time to change that.
  22. I have always loved this quote and I've also always loved Zenpencils. Combining them together only makes it better.

  24. But does he want someone to bring up the past? Hell, would he even remember me? It was fifteen years ago...
  25. The reason I shared it is because of a personal experience I had which was along the same lines as what occurs in the comic. I once knew a kid who was the target of nearly everyone, and I was one of his only friends. I never did anything to him myself, hell I had a crush on him, but he did end up switching schools and I never saw him again and I wondered what had become of him. Until a few months ago I still didn't know. But I finally managed to track him down on facebook. I didn't do anything but look. I was scared to try and dig up the past for him, but on one picture he shows off a tattoo that is displayed proudly across his chest which reads, "Unbroken I remain". I honestly teared up a little when I saw that, and it's been a source of strength for me since then. I still haven't gotten the nerve to talk to him though, and I'm not sure that I even should.
