  1. Lovely, Cole. Thanks. After reading it, I started to think about something I'd read year and years ago. I've tried a quick google but found nothing on this, however, I'll related what I can recall. It seems that some research was done that indicated strongly that there is a reciprocation between a smile and feeling good, and not just with someone else seeing the smile, but within the person doing the smiling. Somehow, there seems to be an interconnection between the thoughts of the brain and the smile. Yes, a happy brain may cause a smile, but somehow, strangely, a smile on your own face can induce the brain to become happier. So, it is not just that smiling instead of crying is logical, it may well be the answer to lift you out of your depression a bit.
  2. That's okay. Glad you have at least some vision now.
  3. WBMS, I don't think that's a good example at all. I often hear people asking, "Is the pope catholic?"
  4. Ohhh. He's a singer or a musician then?
  5. Maybe he did it for himself, not his career? Let's not go around condemning people who come out, simply because they've done it later than you think is appropriate.
  6. Wonderful story. Really nice.
  7. One of the comments in response also says it all. Religions need to disappear for humanity to progress.
  8. A very good article. I'm glad Canada ended up being reasonable, although at the time of the law being voted on, it was anything but a sure thing.
  9. A Wait May Be Too Late By Trab The bubbles of the swirl pool stroked Ken?s skin like faint remembrances of Todd?s fingers, so many years ago. He could remember the love in each trace, and once again feel the passion for his love; a passion that would never be fulfilled. He held on for another moment of bliss, till his father pulled him out of his reverie and back to the stark reality of his endless barren existence. If only he had said something to his parents before it was too late. If only he hadn?t decided to wait. Carefully Steven pulled his son into the lift sling, to get him back into the wheelchair to take him home. He missed his son?s zest for life, and even though he loved his son with all his heart, he sometimes wondered if saving his life to a lifetime of being paralyzed and mute had really been the right thing to have done. However, he knew his love for Ken would endure forever, and was sure Ken basked in every minute of it. ? Copyright, Trab, 2010.
  10. Oh, are you ever clever! Coincidentally, I was at the local pool yesterday, and there were two Japanese fellows in the showers (which are large communal, not individual stalls) happily and unembarrassedly cleaning themselves. I have noticed that there is only about a 5% rate of doing this, with almost everyone opting for cleaning without removing their bathing trunks. Effectively, the norm is that the parts that probably need the cleaning the most don't get cleaned (we are supposed to do this before entering the pool so that the system isn't strained to deal with the skin borne contaminants). And, before you ask, I am one of the 5% and I enjoy seeing the rest of the 5%. I'm not entirely sure if it is cultural, but I'm of Dutch heritage (born there), and the other naked showerer was Bulgarian.
  11. The first thing to filter out is the word "filtering", and secondly, "circumvent".
  12. The trouble with this type of thing is that you can lose it simply be not caring enough to even say anything, or ignoring it, or believing the lies.
  13. It simply goes to show that our 'freedom' is mostly illusion, and the reality of it can only be maintained with active interest and work.
  14. What might work is to have Australia completely severed from the internet altogether, as a concerted effort on the part of everyone involved. In essence, and strike by all internet providers worldwide, to bring some sense to those idiot politicians.

    The Jerking

It was hard to slap it together, but somehow I managed to pull it off.
  17. I wonder what the other rules are. Maybe there isn't an age restriction, so each one brings her dad, and the dad spend the evening ogling the young'uns, while the two girlfriends dance together. I suppose it is too late for that. I wish all these bigots and retards would just jump in a deep lake or fast flowing river.
  18. Since I would never go see a movie based on one man's opinion (isn't this 'one man's opinion' the name of a TV show or something...anyway, I digress) so I did a quick check of the IMDB and found this nice writeup, which makes me want to go see this movie even more. IMDB comment
  19. I can't tell if that is uplifting or depressing, but whichever it is, it is certainly thought provoking.
  20. What is scary is that 30% of Texans will believe it is factual, 40% will agree that vampires are evil blights on our society, and 20% will actually try to take direct action.
