  1. I hadn't heard of this and it's fascinating. What was it like to take part? How much guidance do you get, and what constraints are put on you so the various chapters follow each other and tell a story? I read a bit of Marshall Law from a few years ago, one chapter in particular was brilliantly written, and very funny.
  2. This is very interesting, Colin. Reinforces my view that there's still much for the human species to learn about itself.
  3. I'm a bit late to this thread, but I want to say how grateful I am to Cole for his help and advice on numerous occasions. Also for his splendid storytelling, which had given me endless enjoyment and satisfaction over the years and will continue to do, even if he never writes anything more (heaven forbid). That's because I've now reached the age at which I can re-read something I read years ago, with no recollection whatsoever of having read it before - so I get all the enjoyment over again! Dementia? Alzheimers? Who knows...
  4. John invited his mother over for dinner. During the meal, his mother couldn't help noticing how handsome John's room-mate was. She had long been suspicious of John's sexuality and this only made her more curious. Over the course of the evening, while watching the two men interact, she started to wonder if there was more between John and the room-mate than met the eye. Reading his mum's thoughts, John volunteered "I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, Mike and I are just room-mates." About a week later, Mike came to John and said "Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the beautiful silver gravy ladle. You don't suppose she took it, do you?" John said, "Well, I doubt it, but I'll write her a letter just to be sure." So he sat down and wrote: "Dear Mother, I'm not saying you did take a gravy ladle from my house, and I'm not saying you did not take a gravy ladle. But the fact remains that one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner." Several days later, John received a letter from his mother which read: "Dear Son, I'm not saying that you do sleep with Mike, and I'm not saying that you don't sleep with Mike. But the fact remains that if he was sleeping in his own bed, he would have found the gravy ladle by now. Love, Mum."
  5. I too am a fan of Amy Lane's books. My personal favourites are Freckles, and The Bells of Times Square. Freckles has a cute dog and a story doesn't need much more than that for me to enjoy!!
  6. I love it! Wankie Hankie and Cockie Sockie might just become my regular companions....
  7. If the person who coined the name Walkie Talkie got to name everything, we would have: Stamps: Lickie Stickie Defibrillators: Heartie Startie Bumblebees: Fuzzie Buzzie Pregnancy Test: Maybe Baby Bra: Breastie Nestie Fork: Stabbie Grabbie Socks: Feetie Heatie Hippo: Floatie Bloatie Nightmare: Screamie Dreamie
  8. Plausibleize may be real, but like the victims of Doctor Moreau I think it should be put out of its misery!
  9. There's a bottomless pit of clips from 'Got Talent' shows, so I offer just one more:
  10. And a couple of dance acts from the 'Got Talent' shows:
  11. There's a great one I have on my laptop, a Swedish (I think) short where a wedding ceremony is interrupted by a man bursting in and yelling 'I love you'. The groom looks at his bride and starts accusing her of infidelity, but the interloper shouts 'It's not her I'm in love with, it's him!' and the groom starts spluttering that he doesn't know this man, has never even met him. The interloper clarifies - 'Not him, him!' - pointing to the priest. Then he walks up the aisle singing his undying love, and asks if the priest will accept him, and, hesitantly, he does - and they kiss and the whole audience is happy for them. But I can't find it anywhere on the web. I must have got it from the web but I can't remember where. Does it ring any bells, anyone?
  12. ... and 'the making of...
  13. Another song from Stephen Lynch:
  14. That is a fanvid based on a song by Stephen Lynch. This is Stephen Lynch's own rendition of it:
  15. I'm not sure I've read the brief correctly. These clips are off the wall, certainly, and all of the ones I've posted have touched me in some way. But bizarre is a word that can be interpreted in different ways. Most dictionaries define it as 'odd, unusual', which i'm fine with. Some follow up with 'amusing' which is also fine but others add 'shocking' which only applies to the clips here if you object to them - which I, clearly, don't. So if I've derailed the topic, I apologise. But did you enjoy the clips anyway? 🙃
