Rutabaga
I can't find a previous thread for this story, to my great surprise. It is very well done with an immense number of satisfying developments. It's my nomination for a Pick from the Past. R Link to comment
Cole Parker
Hey, guys, thanks! That was the second story I ever wrote, exactly 12 years ago. April, 2005. It's been years since I read it. Might have to revisit it myself. C Link to comment

Merkin
I'm thinking it was "When He Was Five". That was the one of Cole's I first stumbled upon, and it broke my heart. Still may be my choice for his best. Link to comment
Cole Parker
My first five: 1. Eighth Grade 2005, March 2. Prom 2005, April 3. Tim 2005, July 4. When He Was Five 2005, August 5. Josh, Evolving 2006, January I'd never written any fiction prior to Eighth Grade, only company reports. I never thought I had anything to say. I still am astonished I could write as much as I have since retiring. I do have an edge on all those who haven't retired. I don't have anything else to do! But I'm awfully glad I have this. Most of the writers around here probably didn't get started until WAY later than that! The way you capture the rapture of childhood. it has obviously stayed with you. Thanks. Link to comment

Cole Parker
Thanks, guys. I never know how to respond to praise. More used to criticism! I do enjoy the former, however. I guess everyone does. C Link to comment
