Rutabaga
Me again. Has anyone ventured into Patricia Cornwell's "Scarpetta" series? Worth taking time with? R Link to comment
Merkin
I tackled quite a few of them, Root, before I caught on that this series is basically a character-driven soap opera more about who hates/loves/worships/angers its central character Scarpetta than it is about crime solving. The forensic factfinding is authentic and informative but the reader is often ahead of the pathologist in figuring out whodonit. Link to comment
Cole Parker
I've read them all, and have most in hard cover. As with so many series, the earlier ones are more satisfying than the latter ones. but it's certainly a good series. Yes, go ahead and read them! Link to comment
Rutabaga
OK, I have the first one on my Kindle and it's in my reading rotation! R Link to comment
Rutabaga
Hmmm -- I'm kind of underwhelmed by the writing (lots and lots of passive voice) and the angst. Not sure how far I will venture. R Link to comment
Rutabaga
I switched to a Ruth Rendell book, "From Doon with Death." Better. Kind of dark. R Link to comment
