Right or wrong, I'd guess the publishing house wanted the characters changed to straight not because of social bigotry, but to sell more books. They think they'll find a larger audience for the book if the protagonists are straight. It seems odd that that point was never brought up in the video. C Quote Link to comment

In fact, I believe that is their only decision driver. The underlying issue here is that publishing executives appear to have made the assumption that only straight characters in fiction will sell the most books.
